Just thought I would throw my attempt into the ring. I have gone for a very simplistic look that burrows down into the core of what TA is all about. Touch screen devices. The image below depicts the outline of a finger making contact with a grey screen: This example goes for an even more simplistic look but the same idea: I know Hodapp was on about incorporating 'TA' into the logo. This is a wild stab in the dark. The orange segment looks like an up side down A and the grey could be a T. I'm really interested to hear what you think.
I've yet to come up with a solid idea for a some sort of figure icon, but this text works really well with a concept I'm playing with for turning a phone/tablet into a arcade inspired device.
My entry: Description: I personally think that TouchArcade gave people a very strong impression of gaming updates for touch devices, hence I've incorporate the T alphabet by using hand gesture. The A in the logo can be changed into a better one though... @benac, very nice logo. : )
Just to dissent, I don't like CzarCastic's design. I love the idea and the concept behind it, but it's a quite ugly shape. I don't like that the bottom of the logo isn't flat, for example, so it'll never look like it sits right. It's clever that it's the same upside-down but it doesn't really add much. Just to modify the idea slightly... I have no decent paint program, so someone can probably mock that up better, but you get the gist. Oh, and I only changed the colours to be a bit less NeoGAF.
benac 2nd design is my fav by far love its simple clean and very clear look there are other great looking designs but it needs to be clear to all who visit the site this one does it imho
I was thinking of like a simple silhouette styled arcade button, possibly with a finger or something touching it. While the arcade button is old, and not necessarily related to the portable touch-based gaming, it's something recognisable to the demographic audience, instantly associated with gaming or interacting and still manages to keep that physical "touch" analogy as well. The problem with most of the logo ideas you guys have posted is they might look "cool" or "modern" but they don't really have any message or meaning behind them - or even a visual relationship that some logos might have (think twitter!). Some of them are quite hard to read or distinguish as to what they are and just don't represent anything at all. Try looking at websites like logopond.com for inspiration, or think of brands that you can instantly recognise the logo for! I might do some sketches and toy around with something in illustrator tomorrow when I've got some time, and see if I can come up with something!
Really like CzarCastic's logo as well! Great job! Wish this site didn't use bland colors though would be very nice in different colors instead of grey and orange
a quick try.. a "touch" like wave under an "arcade" like joystick stick and a bit more ta colors cheers
