Ugh so little time! I will definitely try CM2 and I like 9th dawn so far but if I only have time to give either KD or Maximus a try before Wednesday, which should it be?
9th Dawn is the game I played the most, and longest fun with this year since Heroes & Castles. To me, it *feels* like a long lost RPG that I've played from way back then...
9th Dawn, hands down... it's the finest iOS RPG in some time and an action filled spree with smooth dual stick shooter mechanics. The open world sandbox can't be beat; 9th Dawn is a real gem of mobile gaming. My only regret is that Maximus has to compete against 9th Dawn and not whatever lukewarm filth* passes for releases next week. Maximus holds it's own and is a standout, better than average, but ultimately doesn't hold a candle to the wonder of 9th Dawn. Scurvy Scallywags is fun and clever but personally didn't strike me as a standout. * - Pyramus looks excellent next week; and Quadropus Rampage... Ok, maybe not filth.
Picked up Maximus because of the overwhelming positive responses and damn is this game good. Gameplay is polished as hell, and the controls are too buttersmooth. Gotta love the TA communiy for helping out discover games i may not even touch at all.
Try KD (Kinetic Damage). It's worth picking up even if you aren't crazy about fighting games. The move list isn't overly complex, and there's several martial arts styles. There's no "quarter circle" style inputs. (Or fireballs/projectiles). It's all punches, kicks, and throws. How you time your attacks is key. It's almost like a 2D Virtua Fighter, but much easier to learn. I think it's a steal for a couple bucks. I would have paid 15 dollars (or more) to download this on Xbox/PS3.
Gangstar Vegas takes my vote. Maximus is probably the biggest surprise for me since it came out late in the week and ended up blowing the competition except for Gangstar Vegas. As for reasons why I chose Gangstar Vegas as my GotW, very high production values, and it's one of the best sandbox games on iOS, if not the best.
This - while not the best for me (that'd be Puzzle Quest), but a very close second. And I've played a lot of match-3's. I'm not exaggerating when I say that this was the first game from my "to get" list and I haven't been able to tear myself away from it long enough to buy, much less play, my others.
Since quadropus rampage did not make this week,I thought I will vote for cubemen2..Yet I was amazingly surprised with Maximus and its the game I played the most..So Maximus gets my vote..
Any pointers on where to up it? It's E3 time and no press seem to be interested in any reviews, and apart from the majors sites (here, slide & 148apps) i'm not sure where else to push!
Yep! I find it an excellent way to blow a load of money each week =\ OMG SO GOOD! I cannot get over how much I am enjoying it. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. I can't just listen to the game music, I need more. Which is why games like Ridiculous Fishing (which has YET to be updated at all - a fact that really, really, really makes me angry) don't get nearly the same amount of play. I hate it when games steal away control of the music.
It was a toss up for me between scurvy and kingdom rush but I went with kingdom rush, because I hate the music in scurvy I'm sad to see sparkle 2 voteless though.
