From the poll I've bought Scurvy Scallywags and Bridgy Jones; I'd also like to check out a few of the others. Unfortunately I haven't spent any time with these games at all this week as I'm currently hooked on Directional Dash.
I wish I could tell you dude! It's a great game. As I said before, maybe TA's usual strategy crowd are still too busy with Frozen Synapse and Warhammer Quest to notice a new game just yet. If I hear any of them whining about having nothing to play I'll mention Cubemen though
It's refreshing to see indie games like 9th Dawn and Scurvy Scullawags hold their own against a powerhouse like Gameloft (Gangstar Vegas) here; too bad that doesn't necessarily reflect App store sales.. IGN mobile seems to cover iOS games rapidly in some cases. Also consider contacing Pocket Tactics.
I can't decide. Kingdom Rush Frontiers is... well... simply awesome. I didn't really much care for the first one, but this sequel - mind = blown. Kinetic Damage:;: probably the deepest, most complete and challenging fighting game I've ever played. On any console. 9th Dawn - freak'n amazing Dual-Stick RPG/Roguelike/Adventure game with loads of exploration and an amount of depth that's usually reserved for 'console' games. Scurvy Scallywags - a match-3 RPG that takes everything to the next level. Maximus - a hack'n'slash/shmup mixup that I just can't get enough of Sparkle 2 - probably the best bubble popper/marble shooter on the iOS. Cubemen 2 - fantastic TD/RTS that has taken the original and completely out shined it. Covenant of Solitude - another Kemco title that, even though it's not Universal or 4inch supported - is still a Kemco RPG that stands out above the massive amount of crap RPGs in the AppStore.. This was one HELL of a week. I don't even know if I will vote, because if I do, I"ll feel like I'm doing every other game wrong by not giving them my vote. Oh the problems of voting for a GOTW... =oP
It's simple: Don't vote. That's precisely what I'm doing this week. Everything kinda sorta maybe deserves it.
I dunno - I might wait til the last day and just vote for the one game with the least amount of votes. =oP
Well, let's hope for a clean-up of the poll before then; this week is a particularly close one right now, and there are already a couple of shifty-looking accounts that were obviously only registered in the past week so they could pad out the votes.
Short Version: GOTW is a toy, refusing to play with a toy is no fun. Long Version: I'll say this out of respect, you are free to do what you want but not voting or frivilously voting seems uncharacteristically indecisive for the two of you. I can't help but wonder if you two are having trouble finding a personal favorite because evaluating technical competency or general favorable versus non-favorable status has become so routine week after week (sort of a game reviewer burn out). If this makes sense, hopefully it does, for your own enjoyment of the forum I encourage you to interject your own individuality into things. Try to shake that sort of general critical TOFTT eye and throw caution to the wind by just clicking whatever button feels good. Sometimes there is a game that is horribly cobbled together but somehow stands out to me as amazingly fun; it's true I might not recommend it (would be embarassed to) but as a personal preference I enjoy it. Voting for Game of the Week simply means that I, as an individual, prefer an old school RPG with dual stick shooter controls even just a little over an abstract tower defense strategy game or whatever other entertaining, glorious, wonderfully designed, polished, cutting edge, lively, etc apps are out there.
^^ Hey, why don't one of you at least vote for Scurvy Scallywags. Three deserving games can then share the GoTW crown (at least at this point).
@undeadcow: It's not about being indecisive per se...it's just that on a week with bound-to-be iOS classics such as Sparkle 2 and Scurvy Scallywags (picking one over the other is, to me at least; a crime), am I to ultimately vote for Gangstar? Isn't that injustice? Well if it is, someone call my momma because that's what I did. I've wasted so much time (and battery, multiple times) playing Gangstar this week and enjoyed every second of it that I can't possibly vote for anything else, as much as I want to. Are those games, along with a handful of the others better than Gangstar? No doubt...but I just can't vote for them. Anyways, in the end...you said it best: "Refusing to play with a toy is no fun". I played.
Cpfan and JustBoreds are both shill accounts voting for KRF, which actually makes a difference given just how absurdly close this week's poll has been.
I wound up voting for 9th Dawn. I ended up staying up all night, playing it, and I'm completely blown away. Yes, I can see people saying that the graphics aren't too incredibly great (though I'd beg to differ on this, because I'm a total retro pixely fanatic...) - but the gameplay - oh dear god the gameplay... =oD **time to charge my battery. I don't think I've run a complete charge down on one game in one sitting in a long... long time.
