Yeah, World of Goo is Toucharcade 2010 iPad Game of the Year, so it should be out of this year Best Game of the Year.
Way too early indeed. Maybe crex didn't want anyone stealing his thunder. I have an ongoing list of some of my favs throughout this year, and will be submitting them on a later post sometime in late December when the time is better suited for it (I'm sure there will be some solid games to come between now Christmas break). I am seeing some good choices so far though...
Hah! If you think that I started it early, you should message Red1 and ask him if it was my idea or not to start it this early. Trust me, it wasn't mine, and I have a good reason for it.
This GOTY thread was opened, because other people were starting to create ad-hoc threads for it and we were aware Crex had plans for organizing it. The voting process hasn't started yet, so it does no harm to open the thread. And it gets people thinking about what they might vote for. Unfortunately, someone is going to say "why so early?" every few pages in this thread.
Respectfully that doesn't sound very democratic. Perhaps someone else's thread would have been just as valid and organized as crex's. Either way I am sure a bit of work goes into this so here's to a successful run.
Fair point. Here's my logic: If we know an established member has been planning it for a while, has given it some thought and has been through it before, it makes sense to favor that over an ad-hoc post from a reasonably new member saying something along the lines of "vote for your favorites..." I discussed it with those who posted via PM and they were fine to hand it over to Crex once we discussed it. Actually, they were really good about it. And I'm sure Crex will do a good job of pulling it together.
Damnit... I've been trying to come up with a top 20 of 2011 for TAS, and I've been changing the list weekly... There's only a couple that I know of FOR SURE that have their spots locked in... iDaTank Meganoid Robo5 Monsters Ate My Condo easily 4 of the games I've thrown way more time into than I ever thought I would...

I didn't know what it was until I saw it in sv's sig one day, lol. Gave it a download, but didn't like it.

There's a few ways to look at GOTY: 1) What did I personally play the most / get the most fun from? 2) Which games were the most impressive in my opinion? 3) Which games do I think were the most popular? The answers to these three questions are all different. I assume the GOTY poll is about #1 ?
I'll probably be doing some sort of combination of the first two. Something like 60% played the most and 40% most impressive.
