ummm...what planet do u live on? How can u tell MOST people dont like it? From reading the thread on my own it looks like it has mixed reviews. I liked the game myself. Just as good as Defenders Chronicles imo.

What i find funny is that 5 or 6 people all keep posting how the game sucks to give the impression EVERYONE doesnt like it. Or dont like it so much they try to change the opinions of others.

Its just a game get a life

I like Star Defense. It's not innovative, but its really well polished and fun. And its a great looking TD game also.

EDIT: I'll admit, I bought into the hype. Funny how a few people hype the game so much and make it look like its the greatest TD game ever, then after its released, a few people complain about how it didn't live up to the hype or complaining about how bad the game is.

App store reviews are always interesting. "Peekababe - Sexy Babes" has a 4/5 star average. Just saying...

Well, I trust iTunes reviews about as much as youtube comments, but I digress. I think the important message here is just not to believe everything you read. It was purely semantical of me to bring the standards and practices of journalism into the discussion. The truth is that media bias is not contained by those guidelines anyway. (The next time you read or watch the news, pay attention to which side in a story gets the final say.) Think for yourselves.

The meat of the app buying populace neither have the time or the drive to post here or write reviews on iTunes, so we'll never really know what the majority of the people think about the game.

Not voicing an opinion in this thread but concerning this game, I just played for about an hour and the content is quite limited! Same route all the time is not super, the towers are extremely limited, no gfx update when tower upgraded, .. but I also have field runners and geodefence and I have the same opinion about those. At least this one is very pretty :p

Oh yes, and I wish I had waited for a price drop :p (here's to hoping they soon give a nice free upgrade, atm is lacking)

    True.

Honestly, if people have a problem with how reviews are done here, then don't let the reviews be the reason why you buy a game or not. Wait for gameplay videos, other reviews, etc.

Games make the front page of TA all the time and 99% of the time it's in a positive light because hey, what is otherwise the point of front page exposure? Perhaps all this hype came about as it was featured at the WWDC? Haven't played SD myself so can't judge but really the only reason I haven't is not because of over-hype but overabundance of freaking TD games period!

Yeah, I've gotten criticism before for being too positive about things. With the ridiculous amount of apps that come out on a DAILY basis, why would we waste time on things we didn't like?

Count me in "negative group". And undecided opinions can be negative after all. Also majority of positive opinions were submitted right after the game was released - there's high chance that they change them in recent days.

Personally I hate SD banner on front page:

Yeah, except I hardly think it's fair to count opinions made after the fact. The disputed claim was that the "majority" of forum members disliked the game which some insisted should have been reflected in the review that was posted yesterday. So, case closed.

who cares, reviews are subjective. eli ejoyed the damn game, what is so unbelievable about that? it's not like it's a HORRIBLE game. everyone has their own likes and dislikes. that's the danger about following any review from hodapp or bigalbie, their impressions are different from your own. they will infact tell you if the game is well made and runs properly. however you have to make your own decisions. I use the reviews to see if it's something that sparks my interest, however I don't use it as the reason to buy. if I make a bad purchase then it's my fault not somebody that said the game is good.

It's hillarious how people are accusing them of not really liking it. They obviously didn't play the game.

I think that a lot of people do not have anything better to do.

    Here is my advice:

    1. Go play any game that you want
    2. Only look to threads that matters to you (if you do not even played the game, please, stay away from the discussion)
    3. Find something fun to do

I am very surprised with TA forum. There are tons of people with nothing better to do and they play “police” here in the forum, saying that this is the wrong session, that this is inappropriate, and so on….

Come on guys, it is a free environment and everyone has the right to write whatever they want. The reviewers are free as well. Do you pay for the site service? No.

Why do you still keep coming on the site? Because you like it. You like the opinions of the reviewers and you like the information on the site.

Everyone here is afraid to say that Star Defense is receiving a lot of space on TA and good reviews from the TA reviewers because they were paid to do it. They were sponsored by ngmoco. Do not imply things, do not be coward. Say it. Personally, I think this is ridiculous. If this is true, who cares? If it is not, who cares?

People keep criticizing some TA articles because they are envy. It is pure jealous. That is it. You wish you were one of the reviewers and would be receiving free games. Is that what you want?

Please, go find something better to do….go play some games…..go date….have a life….

That type of pointless discussion is out of this world…..

PS: this message is direct to everyone that always is involved in pointless discussions and has a detective behavior. Always looking for order…..for law enforcement…..looking for mistakes of others…..

Thanks for all the comments. Im glad people are talking about this. Look, ive been a member since i got my touch and just about every other game theve put on here i had purchased and played. I love this site. But just for the first time i think a game that they have hyped up so much just kinda sucks. Just my opinion.

    To Hodapp: Its not offensive

To Dogmeat: I didnt go bananas. Whatever happpened to someone being able to have have an opinion and expressing it?

To Kumulus: You make very good points

To HJJ: You need an attitude adjustment "horde of anonymous forum members" Can the hordes of anonymous forum members have a point of view

To everyone who listened to my openion thank you and the people who had a problem with it fk u

interesting thread. i too have star defense and it just seems like a tower defense thats 3D- nothing so special to me.

But Eli was the one who reviewed and he loved it. I dont think hes trying to be bias or anything hes giving an honest review for a game he enjoyed

Hey, a lot of websites gave StarDefense high ratings, and I can't disagree. It's quite an innovative take on the genre, and very fun with higher-than-average replay value for a TD. If you call this over-hyped, what do you call Rolando? And besides, everyone has a different opinion.
