Probably my favourite game on the app store. That said. For what it's worth, I think this update does nothing to make it more accessible to new players; in fact, probably the opposite since they are now swarmed with a bunch of options they will have a hard time deciphering. The d-pad control simply does not work for this game. It is exactly the mess I imagined it to be when I first heard it mentioned. The auto run means you are always moving and turning at the same speed which removes a large part of gameplay and strategy. There is only one way to play this game: as was originally intended. And it is a glorious and unique experience which happens to come with a short but sharp learning curve. The problem now is that any new players are going to find it much harder to get to the configuration required to learn and enjoy this game, and in my opinion are much more likely to be left feeling confused and frustrated.
Hi Gabrien, Glad you like the game that much, makes the effort worthwhile. I take your point about the possibly overwhelming control options - but my hunch is that most players wont be effected, as the wont even touch the settings. And the sort of gamers who do are already invested in making changes, so will probably pay atention. The number of options is really just for people who have the game already and want to be able to try the new things - but change them back if they dont like them. I think the new default configuration will help alot more people enjoy the game - which is what drives me - while retaining the originality. cheers Morgan
I sincerely hope that you're right and I'm wrong in this case. It's possible too, I am so used to the original controls, I'm not really viewing the new options objectively. If nothing else, I'm thankful you are still working on this game and it has not been abandoned. Any extra attention it gets will be ten times less than it deserves. I know I've said it probably a dozen times before, but more than anything else what I think this game needs is online multiplayer. Which would provide a community. Which for a game like this, where players who like the game tend to love the game, would really be the thing to make it both successful and infinitely enjoyable. In any case good luck. I expect the lite will garner a plethora of one star ratings, but hopefully you'll make a few more sales as well.
So, what's up? Any plans for a sequel or other sports games? Love this and the tennis game and still play them occasionally. P
