Over the weekend, I was searching for a few hours for a good DJ iPhone app (did not find anything). Getting that notification email was quite a surprise! This looks like an excellent release (easy to use and well worth the money). Sadly, I will need to wait to purchase this until the app can access the iPod library. Is it an issue with Apple's new approval process, or is it a matter of dealing with new code you haven't worked with before?
quote from dev himself: "It indeed cannot take music from iTunes, because current SDK doesnt allow dual access to the itunes library and pitching files from the library. (So you think we deliberately didn't implement itunes integration?)"
I'll be puttin on an Industrial music event in Dec with the hard burlesque troop out of Cleveland "InfusionCrew.com" and one of the DJ's is a real dj, not a cd changer, and is a buddy and he's gonna love this! He's http://www.myspace.com/infamouslongcat Pittsburgh rocks for hard Tekno!
Hey for those that got this app. Is there any way to record your mixed tracks then import it to Beatmaker to further add to it?
Ok, been playin with this a bit, tho i must first admit this is a bit out of my league since I'm not a DJ, I'm a musician. So, I'm approaching this as such. Meaning, if I can work this thing, anyone can This is pretty impressive. I mean really. The songs included are WAY Better than I thought or that I interpreted from the video. As in all things worth the while, there is a learning curve, and I've just scratched the surface, excuse the pun I'm using my new (refurb) iPhone 3G, and its not having any more trouble than as if I was playing a FPS shooter game on it. The draw time and load time might be the issue they admittantly addressed on the their app store page, but I'm not seeing it as intrusive for playback. Some of the things I don't like are some of the things that most people love about Noise.io Pro: the menu setup. I must be getting used to it because I had no problem navigating since I'm accustom to their other products. Expect this to be like a $200 software program, you gotta read the flippin manual to dig deep into it, and if there is one thing Amidio does, it's making programs that are useful on the surface, but deep if you want to tinker and fine tune for the enthusiasts. Bottom line: it is as beautiful as I expected, it is the most versatile and complex DJ program I've seen by far, it is made with the quality that I wish most games and other apps were made, which would make the iPhone untouchable, and the songs are Really nice: house to techno to electobeat. I can't wait to see how to upload some mp3s and really get to mix some stuff. Kudos Amidio! You knocked the ball out of the park! @Aldex I didn't get that far yet, but going by Amidio's history, I'm certain that some sort of integration with their other products would be a no-brainer update if not now, just like Native Instuments handholding between Reaktor, Reason, Rebirth, etc. OK I'm adding something here: These songs are so good you're getting your money's worth if you consider they are worth 99c each. I'm just chillin on the net listening to the tunes, man.
Ahh! Sounds amazing. I have all their other apps as well. But from what you've stated so far, sounds excellent. Too bad I missed the promo giveaway, lol.
Yeah, just to add onto what Dark NRG has already said... I'm also a musician myself - I've been playing guitar for 7 years and bass for 6 years, so I'm not a DJ either, but I still have a passion for music! Lemme just start off by saying that Touch DJ is FRIGGIN AMAZING. This work of art stands in its league at the AppStore, there is honestly nothing that can compete. Everything works flawlessly on my 3GS and the app is intuitive as it gets. The controls work great, and work seamlessly on the iDevice- such as pinching to change the pitch. Although I haven't put any of my own music on the app yet, there's still quite a lot of sweet sounding tracks to play around with - and even more can be unlocked by using Twitter or Facebook to promote the app (which I thought was a cool idea and it's pretty much a symbiotic relationship.. we scratch your back and you scratch ours ). I haven't had much time to play around with Touch DJ yet, mainly because I'm drowning in work that needs to get done.. But, from what I've already experienced, this app is truly stunning and exceeded my expectations. The sky is the limit with Touch DJ. So, hats off to you guys at Amidio and thanks so much for creating another masterpiece that appeals to my ears - I wish you guys the best of luck and it's about time Apple came to their senses and approved Touch DJ - it took them long enough! P.S. My thumbs are killing me from typing this post up on my iPhone, haha.
heh, epic. love the song Surrounded. Learning slow here, just discovered the multitouch of the EQ is hard as F@#%
The OMG was not because I got a promo code, unfortunately, it was because I didn't. I posted from work, drove home, checked the thread first thing to watch the video again, and found the charred remains of the codes. I've been refreshing the thread ever since. Never done that before. Now I'm going to bed. Thanks to you guys for the reviews; sounds like it's made of win.
Ack! I thought because you got it and was playin it! Sorry dude! by the way, my comment about the EQ is being hard as .... is in a COOL flippin way. It's dank, serious.
Wow. I am truly blown away by TouchDJ. The amount of power in this app is amazing — while I am a "hobbyist", I imagine that TouchDJ can replace just about any basic DJ setup. The included music is not your usual filler either; they're worthy additions to any dance library. Anyone else playing with the visual beatmatching? I find myself loading the same track on both sides/channels, flicking both sides, and then seeing how fast I can match both sides up. (I also love looping a hook from a song vs itself...prolly considered a beginner's trick, but it's fun)
so just for info - there are the included tracks in the app - is there anyway to import new ones or are new ones released ? Haven't quiet understood this part yet
yeah bro! so what u do is u download their program from their website (if u want i can get u a direct download link to it), and then u upload songs on the server - which can then be used with touch dj. i havent had the chance to test it out myself yet so i may not be describing it completely right, but this is what i understand so far from the process of getting your own music on touch dj.
Awesome. Downloading right now and praying if it runs fine on my iPhone 3G. Maybe worth to buy newest iPod touch. A friend will load it on his iPod touch 2G. Enjoying already Noise.io—one of the best synths for iDevices. For DJ mixing there is Deadmau5 Mix (highly recommended) and (new) Deadmau5 Mix II (needs update). Mix II includes the tracks of Mix but there seems to be no tempo (BPM) switch any more (at least I couldn't find it) and it is a bit unreliable sometimes (tested on iPod touch 2G). You can't load your own tunes in those apps but they are a very interesting and easy approach to mixing loops. Great tool for DJs: Paul van Dyk DJ App. All of those are no toys: Professional applications! Still downloading Touch DJ. 171 MB. Can't await it Watching all the demo videos at YouTube, reading tutorial PDF, downloading and installing AmidioSync.app on my MBP, reading INSTRUCTIONS!.txt...
you're gonna be blown away when u try out touch dj.. theres nothing that even comes close to it (well, at least in my opinion) on the appstore. theres simply so much to do and the app comes preloaded with 25 great dj tracks (tho some have to be unlocked thru twitter or facebook - which wasnt an issue for me as i have both).
This looks... amazing. Almost a little sorry I dropped money on Flare, though it's still a lot of fun and obviously Touch DJ offers a lot more than just scratching. A little too rich for my blood right now since it looks like it's more of a tool for people who actually know what they're doing. Not sure how accessible it will be for the little guy so it looks a bit beyond the "I'll just pick it up to have fun with a few times a week". But I love that apps like this are available. Can't wait to see what people are able to do with this one.
nice to see some musicians on here looking to expand their horizons on a personal level, i have x2 technics vinyl decks along with a range of software mixing programs such as vdj, traktor and a demo of decadance. All are unique and offer something to the art of digital mixing. In particular, vdj has a great visual mixing element that ive yet to see improved by otherwise higher quality software. my questions are, if the developers or someone in the know are reading this, can you export mixes to either a desktop or the device itself? and do you have any plans to integrate the option to stream audio via shoutcast or simular? if the answer is yes im quite willing to pay twice the asking price here!
