There ends yours, certainly. Why or how is not the question, however much you might wish it was. Still waiting to here what evidence you're using as basis for your "guarantee".
Ah well. Here you go. Tell me who do you really think these AppStore pirates are? Do you think they are socially bad people, criminals or direct relatives of Somalian Pirates? They are just people like you and me who pay their taxes, spend money on movies on theatre, splurge on a BK or McD every once in a while. They spend money on everything like you and me except for the fact that they can't resist the temptation of getting these apps for free. They aren't financially poor people as they can afford an idevice which costs $200+ for minimum. Do you seriously think they can't splurge on even those apps which costs 1-3$? They can and they will if you remove the option of getting them free by pirating. 5% is an assumption I think would be a fair chance of those converting to legit buyers. Seriously? Aren't people with a legit iPhone pirating apps? Do you believe these people who can spend 100$ a month on monthly mobile bills won't pay a dollar for a useful/entertaining app? They don't pay coz they are getting it for free instead. Can you really disagree with this point here?
I'm not sure what your actual point is, nor how it relates to a guaranteed 5% of anything. Sounds to me like a load of aimless random pontificating based on nothing even passingly resembling a material fact.
I really don't care whether they would have bought it or not. Stealing it is unfair to those that paid. If they want it free, they can wait a few years for it to get released for free. Nobody is holding a gun to their head saying "You Must Play This Now". I think this group is a good thing. A little social pressure to make people understand that when one posts "I got a ipod fulla cracked appz lolz!", that person is seen by others as a thieving little dweeb rather than the gangsta cracker they think they are. I'm kind of surprised there hasn't been more MPAA style takedown activity in the games area... especially with the iPhone. You have an ID on the device, and you can find the thing via GPS. If somebody has one cracked app, they probably have several, so you have multiple felonies right there, and a dot on the map to find the future felon. Apple could easily tie right into the local police department if they decided to. Kind of a freaky scenario, but I could see it happening, especially if there were fines involved. Remote detonation is always an option too
Try and answer what I asked you instead of ignoring my question. Do you seriously believe someone who can splurge on an iDevice won't spend even 5-10 dollars a month when he has no problem paying up the mobile/restaurant/Bar bills? Or do you need a to do a research to find this out
Sorry? Didn't know it was a game of who answers first. Which question? Would you mind requoting it for me as I failed to find one.
I've asked it three times so far, but what the heck, let's go for four and see if you catch it this time: on what evidence are you basing your 5% "guarantee"?
Ah, right. So all the way through the thread this argument has been about the poor developers losing out on money, but now you "really don't care" whether they're losing money or not - all you're bothered about is whether someone gets something for less than you paid for it. How quickly the mask falls away, eh?
Already answered and expalined. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=603431&postcount=242 If you fail to understand this much then I give up. You win. I cant make you uderstand this concept any better. There's only so much of time I can waste on an ignorant forum member.
Lol. Which mask? Do you even have any idea whom you're replying to? Poor amazingruss never said anything about devs in this thread. That explains it why you can't understand these simple facts. No point in explaing them to you as you have no sense about what you are arguing here.
So by "guarantee" you mean "vague rough guess I pulled out of my arse at random"? And the evidence you were relying on to make that "guarantee" was completely non-existent? Super, glad we cleared that up in the end. You begin to see, though, why I have little confidence in your grasp of the meanings of words like "theft", I presume?
Incidentally, am I the only one chuckling at your principled stand against IP "theft" here, while you post with a sig supporting Stone Loops Of Jurassica, an absolutely stone-cold incidence of totally blatant plagiarism? (About which we've been told in this very thread, "it is commonly accepted that, say, plagiarism is the "'theft of an idea'"). I GUARANTEE that I'm not. (See what I did there?)
The mask of concern for the poor suffering developers that's being worn by the members of this pitiful little boy-scout group.
