Don't forget to also e-mail me all the details outlined in the first post guys. A lot of you are forgetting that important step in the registration process.
Ok, I've update the list of registrants for the tournament. Thanks for your patience with regards to the start date. The update is going through some final testing on our end and hopefully we can get you the update via the AppStore on Monday and kick the tournament off then. Those of you with X's next to your names, please e-mail me your UDID! Thank you. Still waiting on the update to be approved by Apple before I start the tournament. Again... sorry for the delay, but it should start Sooooooooon!
Gregan, are you in any way affiliated with Blizzard entertainment? Because they have a quite liberal interpretation of "soon".
Sooooon means as soon as the update gets approved by Apple... which should literally be any moment now. I wish I could just push it out to you RIGHT NOW, but alas... I can't.
I would like to register in the Kard Combat Tournament! Ok... I'm a day late. If there's any room to squeeze me in though, please don't hesitate. Openfeint: jimmycanuck
LATEST UPDATE: 1.21 was released to everyone last night, but there seems to be something wonky going on as the 1.21 update isn't showing up for everyone, and for some Apple's AppStore had people update to 1.21, then 1.2 showed up again in the update list and prompted people to downgrade back to 1.2. We're working on sorting this out, then we'll kick things off.
Dear Gregan, Due to the rather large delay of the starting date I am forced to widraw from the tournament because of scheduling conflicts. I will not deny that I'm rather disappointed by the lack of organization. I am aware that this is not entirely your fault (apple being a major factor here). However you have to also consider it does your tournament reputation no good to announce a tournament on the 8th of august with a starting date of 18th, then delaying a week to get (an IMHO non-essential) update out, which due to external factors beyond your control is also delaying the start some more. Perhaps you can schedule the update or the tournament better so such overlaps can be avoided? A second thing I would like to point out is a lack of communication. Innformation is given only rarely. A clear example is your last post about a problem with the update and the notification that you are fixing it. After that again 2 days of silence. Another example I would like to point out is my confirmation email. I sent this on the 8th of august together with my forum post. You apparently didn't receive it (again possibly not your fault). You send me a pm to notify me of it on the 12th. I resended it on the 15th immidietly after reading the pm along with the request to confirm if recieved. I haven't got any confirmation at all leaving me to think the mail had failed again only to find out it was ok in one of your forum posts again 2 days later. While eventually I found out I ask, is it that hard to just reply with "ok, I got it now"? A last thing I want to remark (or ask) is why create a group "Kard Combat communications" only to not use it to communicate? I hope you find this constructive criticism and use it to improve future tournaments, Wich I will (given I am available during it) join. The first tournament was well organised and I had a lot of fun. Sincerely, Yismith
Ok guys, we got the update issues sorted out yesterday, looks like 1.21 is good to go and we are finally cleared to run this tournament. To have a look at what delayed things, please visit this forum post by Hamish that outlines the issue and what we've found out: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=1887301&posted=1#post1887301 Yismith, sorry you feel like we haven't communicated things properly and that you felt the delay for patch 1.21 was unnecessary. We are doing what we can to communicate with you all and we update our community multiple times a day from within here, our forums and our Facebook page. The update to 1.21 was entirely necessary for a multiplayer tournament. There were many synch issues with the 1.2 build that would have seriously impacted our tournament. I will update you all by the end of the day on the tournament bracket and when the first games will need to be completed by to kick off the tournament.
And to make things interesting, I'm inviting Hothead (including myself!) to compete in the tournament. If a HH wins the tourney, we'll award the prize to the person that makes it the furthest. If there are two people that progressed as far as each other, we'll have a consolation match between them. Let the ACTION BEGIN!
The tournament has begun! The full bracket can be found here: http://challonge.com/takc/fullscreen?multiplier=1.0 Note the user names in the bracket are the OpenFeint usernames you use to challenge your opponents. Please chat with your competitors to ensure that they realize you've added them as a friend and challenged them to a match as a part of this tournament. Let's take it easy for the first round so that everyone can get their bearings. I want the first round of games to be completed by end of day Monday. Users with the (HH) tag at the end of their OpenFeint usernames are Hotheads... note that the (HH) component is not part of their actual OpenFeint username.
Yismith, I didn't cut you from the tournament. If you can't play your match no worries, I'll just give your first opponent a pass into the second round. I hope you can still participate!
Thank you for the offer but seeing as I leave on holliday tomorrow it seem rather pointless to join for the one game.Ill wait for the next tourney. Good luck too everyone participating.
I had no idea this thing had even started ... I thought we'd get some sort of notification. I don't think the multiple delays helped, either. I've pinged my scheduled opponent, but no response so far. I guess go ahead and forfeit me if I'm holding anyone up. Speaking frankly: the communication with this event has been a bit disappointing.
