Ugh...Hero of Many, Rymdkapsel, and Futuridium. I love those games but I can't decide which games to remove from my list so I can add those three because all the games on my list feel GOTY worthy as well
A bit late to the party Block Fortress The BlockHeads Pocket Trains SmallWorld 2 Type : rider Dungelot Dungeon plunder 2 Pixel Defender puzzle Nimblequest Mikey Hooks I excluded Warhammer quest from the list as it doesn't feel indie, even if Rodeo Games is a small studio. And Pixel People, as they're published by Chillingo.
Defiantly year walk and device 6(although there may be arguments against this one being a game). Year walk was a fantastic experience that had me thinking about it even after I had finished, and used its companion app very innovatively, a must play for anyone with an ios device. Device 6 was yet another great 'game' from the amazingly talented simogo, although you could categorize it as an interactive novel, it sets a very unique, stylish setting, has intricate puzzles and uses sound perfectly to help immerse you in an intriguing story. If you haven't played these yet, purchase them NOW, you will not regret it.
I've started to do some recounts so if you update your nominations PLEASE let me know that you've changed them between now and midnight EST. I'll still count new posts from now until then.
Nominations are over! Posted below are the results. As you'll see there's a five-way tie for the final two spots. So, what we're going to do is please vote for one of the five games that are tied and at 6 p.m. Thursday (the 9th) EST, I'll see if the tie has been broken. Any remaining ties will result in less final nominees (ie., if there's a game that gets enough to fill the 9th spot, but still a tie for the 10th spot, we'll just go with the top 9). So, over the next 18 hours or so, if you prefer any of the five games, please state your vote. The games tied for 9th and 10th are: Icycle, Duet Game, Kinetic Damage, Continue?9876543210 and Tiny Thief. Continue?9876543210 and Duet deserve a spot on the list. (We're voting for two games, right?) Those are my choices. - Duet for its all around polish, minimal design, and graceful intensity. - And more than any of the other games vying for the spots, Continue?9876543210 perhaps best encompasses the core values and ideals that inspired us to start and maintain this very thread. A small dev team, driven not by some business model but by intense personal experiences that they wished to share through this unique medium. Atmospheric visuals and a unique and philosophical narrative. A game that could have easily been overlooked but was found and praised by the forums (and still hasn't been reviewed by TA yet). It may not be the best game out of the choices, but it surely is the most thoughtful and engaging experience and the truest indie there
I was going to say one, but two is fine. Just so I can add them up to break the tie. So to be fair, anyone who wants to select two of the five, go ahead and do so. (But no more than two please )
I'd vote Continue? for me. I'd dismiss the two potential non-indies just to avoid a needless argument and I've not tried the other two. I'm sure it won't win but it deserves a place in the top 10 for just epitomising the ideal of indie, as Bronxsta says. Hopefully it will give it the limelight the other four have found (Maybe not kinetic Damage, I'm surprised to have never heard of it)
I didn't post nominations, thought I had but can't find it, can I still vote in the tie? If yes then duet and icycle please.
Not sure if i already posted my list here, if not, my Signature has my nominations, except for a couple big name games. Thanks!
