I feel really bad about Crabitron not getting into poll, it is amazing arcade for all ages and actually uses touch controls in innovative way , doesn't try to emulate buttons as many others.
I wish they'd make it universal so I could play it on my 4S. I'm not sure if it may be too difficult on a smaller screen.
As much as I'd like to honor that request, I fear it may cause a riot with others trying to get in to bump other games up.
A riot? Good! Let the indie GOTY be decided in blood, I'm in my Kinetic Damage style fighting stance.
Alright folks! Tiebreaker voting is over and looks like we have our last two poll nominees: Duet and Continue?9876543210. Results of the tiebreaker: Duet Game 8 Continue?9876543210 8 Kinetic Damage 5 Icycle 5 Tiny Thief 4 I'll have the poll up within the next few hours. Thanks everyone!
Poll is live! Start the voting! One thing I'm happy to see is there are just three games overlapping with theain GoTY poll (Badland, Oceanhorn and Boson X), which means we were able to give some smaller devs and indie games a chance to get noticed away from the bigger games. May the best indie game win!
For what it's worth and because it interests me to explore the perception that indie games are disadvantaged even on iOS, here are the tallies of nominations for Indie GOTY candidates from the overall Game of the Year thread (which required 11+ nominations to make the top 10). Badland 21 Oceanhorn 26 Boson x 13 Mikey Hooks 7 Starborn Anarkist 7 Plasma Sky 4 9th Dawn 8 Quadropus Rampage 3 Duet Game 6 Continue?9876543210 4 It's ironic that an indie like Badland and Oceanhorn would stomp all over commercial games in the overall poll tallying up the highest, with 26 & 21 nominations, but get only 10-9 nominations in an indie poll excising commercial games. There doesn't seem to be a huge different, just maybe lower participation in the indie only thread.
Yeah, that is interesting. Less people even participated in this poll. But that was kind of the purpose was to give the smaller games a chance.
Voted for Badland in the main GOTY poll, so I don't think I'll vote for it here For me it's going to be tough to vote between Starborn Anarkist, Duet Game, Boson X, and 9th Dawn
It's interesting that Junk Jack X and Ridiculous Fishing, which could both be considered by some as indies (by Tiny Thief or Icycle rules) received enough fanfare to be a top 10 nominee in the overall GOTY poll; but here in a poll specific to indies get next to no nominations. That's discrepant.
I haven't quite decided yet but am leaning towards Badland as it was my second choice in the main poll (which in itself was a hard decison). Although it's gaining on Warhammer, not sure if it will win but to me it is an amazing game that I'd love to see win one of the two polls. I also love Starborn Anarkist, Boson X, Plasma Sky and Duet. Mikey Hooks and Quadropus Rampage were also a blast. Decisions, decisions...
Well, I don't think I'll vote on this poll, because i've only played one game on the list (Mikey Hooks). This feels unfair voting for it, even if it's great, not having played the others yet. Sorry Mike! I definitely should try Badland that I've already bought though.
Helped implement icade in Plasma Sky with multiple ship speed joystick options, so it will always have a piece of my heart.
I'm pumped that Quadropus made it I don't think I nominated it but I think it's loads of fun. It was either that it Duet, bc boson x has enough attention
Wow..I've actually played more games on this list than on the other GoTY list. The 6 games that I've played here are all good. I'm actually having trouble picking from this list... - Boson X is the perfect endless runner for me. Fast, skill based (with a dash of luck) runner with no grinding. - Mikey Hooks had me grinning from ear to ear the whole time I'm playing it. - 9th Dawn is like the long lost RPG that I used to love. Hmm.Hard to pick...
Continue got my vote. That game was just so different from anything I've seen that I found it to be highly immersive, more so than Year Walk in a way (That was pretty cool, but so short lived ) Oceanhorn was great, but it's basically a Zelda adaptation, so I'll root for the innovative underdog instead - indie spirit !
