Just a little heads up. Please feel free to come over to the Original/Indie GoTY thread and vote if you'd like, even if you didn't participate in the nominations.
Huh, for the positive impressions IB3 got and enough nominations to be one of the picks, it's all the way in last place
Voted for Boson X as Heroes & Castles didn't make the list. Boson X is everything in a runner game that I'm looking for. - Hard, skill based (with enough luck grown in) - Twitch/fast reaction (for especially some levels) - Perfect "digital" controls that doesn't make me rage over the controls (unlike games with controls like Super Hexagon where I seem to over shoot/undershoot enough times..but I still love Super Hexagon) - Short runs (as much as I like Ski Safari...each run takes way too long) - Varied endless stages - No IAP or level ups to grind for
I think when compared to all the other games it just doesn't measure up, which is understandable. To get nominated it had to chosen from a list of ten, but now its down to a vote of one and comparatively it has a lot of stiff competition to garner that one vote away from the other nine candidates. Its a good game in its own right but I think many here would argue that when compared to most of the games on this list it doesn't rank on the high end on most gamers lists. I know for me it personally made my top 20 but when the requirement was established at 10 it didn't make the cut for me. Also throw in that it was a somewhat divisive game with the IB community in that some felt they mishandled the story and upped the ante on the necessity for IAP with the chip system being tied to purchasing potions and upgrading. Lastly, someone had to be in last place... If we weren't commenting on Infinity Blade 3 being in last place then we would be commenting about some other game on the list being in last place. Someone's got to be in last just as someone's got to be in first!
After Warhammer's sprint to the big early lead, the gap is really closing. This could be an interesting race after all.
While enjoying the Game of the Year voting festivities, consider the Touch Arcade forums' weekly Game of the Week polling involving recent releases. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=215467
Games other than Heroes & Castles really? I enjoyed both extensively but they weren't Heroes & Castles so they weren't Heroes & Castles which would be my choice except Heroes & Castles was not a choice so I cried do to the lack of Heroes & Castles being a choice.
Saddened that my 2 favs of 2013, Year Walk and Little Inferno, didn't make the cut. Guess I'm voting for #3 which is Ridiculous Fishing. First time my vote is the same as TA's pick.
Badland has come roaring back. Tied here and leading (slightly) in the indie thread. Still a good amount of time left so anything can happen but it would be funny if it won both polls.
Y'know what would be really cool? That TA is going to make an article about the forum community's top 10 of 2013 when the poll ends.
If they do, I hope they include the top 10 indie games as well. That was kind of the purpose was to give those indies a bit more recognition. And even if Badland were to win both, there's still 7 great indie games in that top 10 that aren't on this poll.
I think 2013 has been the best year for ios gaming so fat and I can't wait to see what this year has to offer.
Just under two days left, it looks like Warhammer Quest might barely eek out a win by a hare's breath.
And Oceanhorn has pulled slightly ahead of Badland in the indie poll. So chances are dimming for a Badland sweep.
There are about 24 hours and change left for voting. The top three games are all within the space of 4 votes away from one another so each participant vote carries a good impact on the outcome. I'm still trying to decide myself.
