Wow, I mean, I liked Warhammer but as an innovative or all around game that defined IOS gaming (isn't that what an IOS GOTY should be, ideally? More than just a fun game, or the one you spent the most time with, but a title that showcases that strengths and uniqueness of the platform?), I wouldn't consider it all that special. In my opinion of course. Quite surprised by the large and early lead. But Badland looks likes it's catching up
In the same vein that you don't get how WHQ is in the lead I don't get why Badland is in second. Sure it has nice graphics and atmosphere but personally I found it quite boring and repetitive. Basically just another runner in a sea of runners.
Anything that made it into the poll are great games, except for JJX. But that's just me coz no matter how i try, i never really get into crafter games. I think the TA community deserves a huge pat in the back for coming up with a list that's far from the freemium league in the iOS world.
yeah, I'm sure there are going to be a few who are upset with the top 10 nominations, and even more upset with the final winners... I wouldn't worry about it too much... it'll most likely just lead to bickering and the deletion of posts... =o/
Come on, people are never going to agree with a list like this. Its just a bit of fun and may help people try some games out they missed. It was voted for by the people so i dont think we can complain too much.
This was my reaction also, Warhammer Quest was my most disappointing game from 2013 - shallow, repetitive, crippled without further IAP. Maybe I'll redownload and give it some more thought. I do understand WHQ intended to retain some of the casual charm of the board game. My personal favorite game last year was Kingturn Underworld (which is like Warhammer Quest x1000 in everything but art) followed by WazHack. I'm still trying to decide on which nominee to vote for. Well said. It's amusing to see which candidate will come out on top even if I don't necessarily agree it's a superior game.
Yup... That's why it's a community's vote and not just one person's list I must admit, i was also surprised at WHQ taking the top spot that fast.
If you haven't voted yet, you can tap "view poll results" in the lower right hand corner of the poll to see the current outcome. Once you've voted it'll show that by default.
Nice to see WQ doing so well but I don't see it winning, I see Badland or Oceanhorn pulling it out in the end. I'm just glad candy crush isn't here.
Interesting to compare our finalists with QI's top of the year based critics' reviews: Only Asphalt 8 and Ridiculous Fishing are on this top 10. http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/r/iPhone/Quality+Index/news.asp?c=56472
Yeah, and I didn't realize that QI also now puts App Store reviews in the mix so I guess that goes to show that iOS gamers aren't just the "casual crowd".
I went Junk Jack X. While I loved WHQ, I don't think it had as much of an impact on me as it did for people who grew up playing it. RF was a close second, and Boson X third
