Surprising, although I admit I haven't downloaded it. Seems like a slightly too abstract experience for my liking. Mr. Particle Man takes it for me. (PS. I notice fizzpowgames voted for their own game. I assume this was an honest error.)
Same here, although the main reason for my not downloading it is that I have a few of their games in my backlog that I ought to finish first before contemplating adding another. This does make me wonder though if their next project will be more in the vein of their earlier games on iOS.
They'll probably do the opposite of what we expect. Most people, including myself, think the same as you. So, looking at the opposite of the expected spectrum, I guess we should prepare for a turn based strategy RPG?
Nominations for the poll may not represent actual popular opinion because there are not that many people nominating games. I forgot to post the nomination outcome this week but often just one nomination is pivotal in determining poll eligibility. I've been advertising once the poll is up (inconsistently) but wonder if there are any ideas for increasing participation during initial nominations. Curiously it seems like most people here did not pick up Sailor's Dream even though I agree it'd seem a shoe in for the poll.
Maybe have GoTW headline it's own category in the main forum as opposed to being underneath General Game Discussion? It would certainly increase the visibility and hopefully lead to higher participation. I know this would be a lot of work, but pushing out nomination notifications in all eligible new game threads and consistently push out voting eligibility once noms are in? I voted for perfect squares because I love the frantic feeling it gives me when trying slide and tap and hit combos. It's a simple, minimal, fun twitch game. Now if game center would get to working... I know Mr. Particle Man will crush the competition this week, but I've been traveling and haven't found time to pick it up.
Yes, sorry, got overly excited when I saw it in the list before reading the rules. Anyway to remove the vote?
This was the best week, IMO, since the oceanhorn week, which was exactly a year ago I believe. I think there were 7 games that I could easily rate 4.5/5 or 5/5 - Muertitos - Sailor's Dream - Day of the Viking - Bitcoun billionaire - NOON - Mr Particle Man - Doodle Jump - DC Heroes At the end of the day, one stood out and deserves my vote more than the others: Mr. Particle Man is not only my choice for game of the week, but will beretta high on my Game of the Year list. I've gotten to level 100, and loved every minute of the torture. Shaun's review was spot on, but one thing I think people should know. This game isn't just for those people who love the pain of difficult games. I think almost everyone will enjoy it.
Mr. Particle-Man for me. Let's see if I can avoid throwing around too many cliche adjectives here... Surprising (fail), unique (fail), retrolicious (ok), infuriating (that works), fun (epic fail)... Anyways, I loved this game. Hard to explain why, you just have to try it for yourself. Much patience and perseverance is needed to get to the end, and there is more to it than defeating the last boss. The retro graphics reminded me of a couple NES games and even old arcade cabinets at different points in the game. Metroid, Zelda, PAC-MAN are a few... The music is great too. Andy, I'm sorry to bring you up once again, but this game is all I've seen you play on Game Center since it was released. I believe you are the ultimate MPM fan, and your inconceivable feats of pure gaming genius are on full display with this. You are something else, man! Get Mr. Particle-Man if you haven't already! Love, Mike. P.S. - I like paulkane's idea about giving the GOTW poll it's own section in the Games and Apps section. It may (hopefully) attract more voters.
