Thanks for the sneak peek! Insta-buy. Just looks enjoyable shaping the world and also really interested to see what feedback I can give once I've experienced the World-Builder functions.
yes, we are really excited for feedback for the game. Its been a long haul, even more so for Glenn - but the idea remains the same as what we had originally intended. Basically a world sandbox that you can mess around with and watch things grow and interact. Obviously there is a lot more we can do with this, and it will be great to hear what the general public thinks of this.
I'm incredibly excited for this release and even more so after the video. Also looking forward to checking out Hairy Tales.
I'm not sure if this was stated before, but perhaps in an update make the game a bit more godlike? Something along the lines of Black and White by Lionhead Studios? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuwSxZ7yjjE That's what I'm talking about
Great. This game reminds me of from dust. Basically you alter the terrain and do certain things to get the native people to certain parts of the map. Of course this game isnt as fleshed out yet because it really has no objective. Not sure if you can even call it a game yet.
99 cents and universal build... INS-TA-BUY-!!! After reading the preview of TA, I like (love!) the philosophy behind Topia. It's like a "Zen God sim" or a "Zen planet creator". The only problem I see is... having to wait two days for it to be released Btw, what's the filesize and installed size?
Sounds exactly like the devs are asking for any type of feedback once us players get to experience the world-builder. B&W iirc, worked off: Collect resource -> build stuff -> allow more people -> allow more worship -> more manna -> more divine powers + pet thing. However I think the world was more static in that game, whereas in Topia, it's all about Terraforming. Though the manna vs other gods building enemy critters to fight could a sort of battle mode game, would work! What I'd like to see (jumping the gun - lol): 1. Create different habitats eg Mountains - Alpine (+ "rainclouds which fall and form rivers!) + alpine forests eg Valleys - create forests and river and lake systems and nearer the oceans create plains/grasslands -> Different vegetation -> creates different spawnings of animals -> These animals create different amounts of "ability to terraform" eg some animals allow boost in flattening others in raising. -> Animals interact with each other such as when a predator eats a herbivore, that triggers another type of power based off this successful rate of interaction. -> score could be complexity of interactions/productivity of planet?! 2. So feedback is tight for player to be able to shape things "from ground up" dependent on how economical their choices are and how successful they manage to create dynamically stable interactions of populations of critters to allow expanding and refining of the terraforming?! Man going off on one... but can't wait to see how it all adds up. I like the idea of new critters being added and new AI boosts coming potentially on what players are able to do.
Video Hands on! http://www.theverge.com/gaming/2012/10/9/3478200/topia-world-builder-ios http://indiegames.com/2012/10/trailer_topia_crescent_moon_ga.html
absolutely. Only birds would be able to inhabit it though, as we have no fishes in yet (we have models for them, but just not put in)
Fish! Amazing. We'll see what the game has to give in 1 day, but it's truly looking good. JoshCM, have you heard about ecospheres/BeachWorld? It's like miniature ecosystems made of shrimps and algae. This game reminds me a lot to those ecospheres because it's just like a mini/simple ecosystem.
maybe the game will be the second pocket god the game had not much to over on the first release but became awesomer on each update this game offers ( a lot ) more than pocket gods first release but i hope it will become as succesful an will transform in the same way
I think we will be putting the fish in. For a while I wasn't sure how see though the water was going to be but it's turned out to look ok while still being pretty translucent.
