I really can't wait to start announcing the games. Here's a hint: I picked from a VARIETY of genres. I tried to put as diverse selection as I could, while still sticking to my personal tastes.

I've put a lot of thought into the list, and I hope you like it.

    #10: Tilt to Live

Tilt to Live is a prime example of arcade gaming on a portable device, proving that a simple tilting game can be endlessly addictive. With four game modes to choose from, you'll always find something to play, no matter your mood. Feel like wasting five minutes? Pick Classic mode! Want to turn 20 seconds into the most exciting 20 seconds of the day? Code Red is for you! Want to play a game of risk versus reward, where only the most daring can earn high scores? Just start up a game of Gauntlet! Dozens of achievements only add to the game's lasting appeal.

I never really understand why many people like it that much. I suspect it's because I never reach a mastering barrier and before this barrier the gameplay is average and once the barrier is behind the game is better.

I could easily list 20 or even 30 games that are clearly better. :D

You should consider adding each game to the original post?

Good idea! I'll keep the descriptions and screenshots in the individual posts, though.

    Right. Behind. You.
Just as long as you have Spider: Secret of Bryce Manor, Zen Bound, and Jet Car Stunts, you should be fine.

Not all three of those are on the list, but at least one of them is.

I've changed my mind. I'm going to put the LAST description in the first post as well. So tomorrow, I will put Tilt to Live on there as well as #9, but only keep the description for the latter.

That's the best thing about the iOS platform! And I agree lists should be by genre.

#9: Rolando 2: The Quest for the Golden Orchid

Rolando was one of the original iPhone platformers, and was universally praised back in December 2008. The sequel delivered even more, bringing with it even better graphics, funnier dialogue, crazier level designs, catchier music, and more of those teamwork-based puzzles that worked so well in the original. A true iPhone classic, it’s only a matter of time before we get word of Rolando 3 and the hype starts up all over again.

I don't know if I made it clear enough that my list was iPhone/iPod/iPad games only. I might have to clear that up so I don't confuse more people. Thanks, though. It's nice to see other people sharing their opinions

    #8: Helsing's Fire

One word describes Helsing's Fire: Brilliant. This is an amazing gpuzzle game which revolves around an ingenious light/dark physics system. The game's steady introduction of new elements, such as enemies that can attack you and special frogs that explode when ignited make it the best puzzle game in recent memory, iPhone or not.

Wow. Helsing's Fire is a great game but I was surprised to see it at #8. Keep up the hard work! :)

  20. Nice list so far. However...
Sadly, ngmoco canceled Rolando 3 a while ago because it couldn't fit ngmoco's new "freemium" model. :(
