First and foremost, let me say upfront that I love the idea. With that said, I think you are going to have a hard time finding a developer willing to piss off the review process group by yanking their chain at the risk of their developer license or getting any future apps approved.

But, then what was the line from Risky Business, "Sometimes you just have to say what the #@!$." With that in mind, why not go with an app that involves no work. It will be a plain white view. The starting view that you have when you create a project. We can sell it as a flashlight. Or a combo flashlight and book light. Or if you order the flashlight within the next 3 days, we will throw in the book light for free!

How about something like: AppStore Game Delay Kit

Pop up message says it's for those long weeks when the Apple review team doesn't accept an application.

Then you have two buttons (or more if you're creative) Clio one and you get that dog picture that's always popping up here and the other is a link to the AppStore.

It would also be cool, because if it is controversial enough, you are almost guaranteed to be on the news.

Like Baby Shaker. If you survive through the review team it would give you MASSIVE (if it's good enough) publicity.

Oh, and to expand a bit on the TC's Hitler idea, how about an app called "Mein Fuhrer" (or however they spell it) that is just on of those photo manipulation apps like "Wanted" and "Terminate Me", but just has Nazi stuff like Hitler mustaches and swastikas. That wouldn't be too hard to design, would it?

Also, you could add arms in the Nazi salute, and text bubbles with some of Hitler's more controversial stuff, all of course written in German, so the app store people wouldn't understand it.

Actually, you could probably just have one with Hitler quotes, and translations in English. Have it contain a few pics of him that cycle after every couple of quotes. You would only need a few quotes, and you could even market it as educational (in the description, at least).

How serious are you about doing this, Brazilian Rider? I have an idea. If we were both willing to compensate the dev for making this (about $25 from both of us upon completion of the project, and let him/her have all of the profits that the app may bring), we might get someone crazy enough to do this.

I think just having a small amount of Hitler quotes (this website has about 50. I think that should be enough: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/a/adolf_hitler.html), and just have some public domain pics of Hitler thrown in the background that cycle for every couple of quotes.

I think something like this may actually be able to make it in the store, especially if the app description makes it sound educational (of course, after that, you go crazy in the app. You can have an info page talking about Hitler, saying how he was such an amazing person, how he was ahead of the times, misunderstood, etc.), and may be news worthy if it actually gets in.

Oh, and this pic has to go in, but only be displayed during the last quote

This sounds stupid, I don't see what it accomplishes. So you submit and offensive app to see what the limits are? Common sense will tell you that the appstore reviewers are individuals, and probably make individual decisions that can be different on any given day.

I'd be more curious to see a borderline app getting resubmitted without any changes to see if it will get approved on a different day (does a resubmit require documentation stating what was changed?).

Perhaps an app that is completely benign, but badmouths Apple (well not true libel, but kind of pokes fun at Apple, in a sort of round-about way). Would such an App get approved?

Example: Bad Apple! An app where you have various APPles in a barrel, some which are randomly bad. you click on one to be eaten. If it's good, you get points, if it's bad you lose.

Something like this is good too. If someone decides to help, exactly what will be in the app has to be discussed. What we're trying to find here is if the AppStore Reviewers are really doing things to test out the apps or if their just being lazy, accepting some, denying others, etc.

The thing about not changing and resubmitting is great also!

This sounds like a great idea to me. I don't think that the Appstore review process takes long enough as is so maybe we should flood it with jokey, offensive or misc. "experimental" apps so that they have less time to review the legitimate things that are submitted.

Or am I the only one who wants to play {insert hyped game title here}?

    :confused::confused::confused::confused:

iMech has been in submission for 3 weeks.

Luxor was in submission for about one.

Why? That's what this app will test.

There is only one problem with this idea.

Scenario 1: You haven't signed up for the dev program.

    Problem 1: You waste $100.

Scenario 2: You have already have games out and are part of the dev program.

Problem 2: You just got a bad name in Apple's eyes, probably taking all chances them featuring you away.

You said you wanted to do like pictures of hitler you should have it be like a khalid shakah rss feed app and call it hitler updates.

We don't need an app for me to tell you why Luxor was approved quickly And iMech still awaits...

Luxor was developed by Plus+ which is a division of Ngmoco who makes tons of money for Apple (anyone heard of Rolando?) where as iMech was developed by Flying Dino who hasn't done anything too big or notable as far as I know... It's already been established, and will be further proved when Gang$tar gets published, as far as AppStore approvals go, money talks.

    I don't know what you're talking about.

Luxor was developed by Mumbo Jumbo (or something like that). Plus+ is the name of the networking software that Ngmoco allowed to be implemented in it.

Luxor is that company's first game, so you're theory is busted.

I would say that ngmoco still have a hand in the publishing of that game even if they are not listed as publisher. It is the first non-ngmoco game to feature plus+ so they'll be pushing it hard.

    My $0.02:

If you did a bit of research on rejected/yanked apps in the App Store, you can get an idea of what happens in Apple's review system.

Take for example, that DS "emulator" that got released last week. It disappeared in about a day. It was pretty much a dead-on rip of the DS Lite case and ui. But it somehow "escaped" scrutiny of the Apple reviewers (not to mention their legal department).

There's also another app that was recently announced in the upcoming apps section here on TA. Not going to mention which app, out of respect for the dev. It might just be easier to track what happens to it.

Sadly, the state of the App Store being what it is, if you've thought of something, however ridiculous it might be, someone else may have already had the huevos to make it and submit it into Apple. :)
