    Music snobs are funny.

P.S - Don't be hating on Katy Perry, she is a fine woman!

Totally agree with dumaz here, but disagree with Ryo's statement... there are whole genres out there that don't get radio airtime. It's not even an elitist thing to be into stuff that's not on the radio.

That's all very well, but people haven't really been mentioning acts that's never been on the radio, even the most obscure music I like I came across it whilst flicking through radio channels, browsing youtube or saw them opening for another band.

There's only two musicians I like who's on an independent label(ie their own, not small label that's called indy) marketing themself, the rest, somebody somewhere has decided that this music will sell to this crowd so we'll introduce it to them.

So to me no kudos is to be gained from liking something obscure because you think it's cool to like obscure, and even less when being a snob about it.

Edit: And the one of the first few posters that said Wesley Willis, you deserve a medal. He was so awesome. Shame he is not with us anymore... "Suck my dog's diiicckkk! Suck my dog's diicckk!" ROFL

I guess you can consider me a Music Snob, though I listed far from the most Indie/Underground bands (though I know a ton, just not my favourite as those listed). I respect peoples opinions on music and am always on the lookout for more. However, I think that just because I have such a vast knowledge of all kinds of music doesn't make me "Cool". I am just consider myself one of those guys to go to for suggestions of music. So in a way that kind of makes me snobbish which is wrong but hey. It's how I feel lol.

    * Recently I watched a documentary on Keith Moon, the original drummer of The Who. That man was a nutter but he is probably the best rock drummer of all time. It got me listening to some of their music again. Some of their live stuff makes some modern bands fall away into non void.

There's a clip on Youtube of Pete Townsend and Keith Moon jamming together, where Keith is following what Pete is doing - totally mind blowing hearing the drums treated like a backup guitar.

I would say The Who influenced a lot of musicians on style and music.

    edit:

Here's the clip of the jam. Just go to 1.51...

A band I'm really liking is Cage the Elephant, most people have probably heard of them, but most people I know kinda regard them as rubbish without giving them a proper listen.
I just got their album from before they were called Cage the Elephant, it's the same band, similar sound, but different name and it's really good stuff, it's called Perfect Confusion, by Perfect confusion, really good guitar work in there, with their great lyrics.

I won't lie, I was interested in them having listening to Ain't No Rest for the Wicked from playing Borderlands. That song is cool, so I figured "Hey I'll DL the album and give it a listen to."

It was pretty terrible... lol. I don't judge a band on a few songs so I listen to most entire albums (Unless it it utter garbage from the beginning). While there were probably a good 3 or 4 songs on there I didn't mind, it was hard for me to get to saying I am a fan.

Yeah ain't no rest for the wicked is quite different to their other stuff. I can understand not liking the rest. I'd definitely call myself a fan though, hopefully they'll tour in england again soon
