I can't really name my top fifteen, ten, or five. So I'l just name my favorite, the legendary and poetic best rapper of all time, Tupac Amaru Shakur.
Billy Talent Zebrahead Scorpions Cage the Elephant Gaslight Anthem Red Hot Chili Peppers Arcade Fire Modest Mouse Audioslave Muse Not mentioning obvious legends like Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin from the golden age of rock. I'm still expanding my boundaries music-wise as well. I just reach so many dead ends in modern music, and I get kinda tired of the pre-90s sound after a while. Might check out classical and see where that gets me. But Avril Lavigne... wow.
No order: Muse Modest Mouse Coldplay Kanye West Timbaland K'naan Foo Fighters Red Hot Chili Peppers Pearl Jam The Tragically Hip LOOOOOOOOOL
I know, I actually love the songs he's done. I just find it funny that you chose him as one of your picks.
no particular order and i'm pretty sure i forgot at least a few bands that would be more worthy of being on the list than others, but that's the danger of such compilations in general. i guess the listed ones are singers/groups that most influenced me at a certain point in my life. - joe strummer & the mescaleros / the clash - beastie boys - walls of jericho - johnny cash - shellac - portishead - pixies - wu-tang clan (+ in particular method man and rza stuff) - amanda palmer (the dresden dolls) - rage against the machine - massive attack oh boy, the more i think about this, the more i want to change that list or add bands to it, so i just submit this now before it gets out of hand... @all-eyez-on-me: who would have guessed when looking at your nick?
I guess it is kind of unusual hahah. I'd never really heard much of his work except for the typical ones that everyone knows because they're funny (like Rock N Roll McDonalds). But I started to listen to more of his material and I realized that he is really disruptive and clever in his own way. It doesn't matter that all his songs use like, the same five keyboard compositions- just that he loved music and his love of music made it awesome.
1.Say anything 2.Weatherbox 3.The Beatles 4.Bayside 5.Queen 6.Manchester Orchestra 7.The Killers 8.The Bloodhound Gang 9.Blink 182 10.Styx in no particular order.
I'm loving the number of times Modest Mouse has come up in this thread, I didn't know there were so many fans of them on the forums.
He is this schizophrenic guy from Chicago. He didn't have any formal training in music but he loved it. So like, all of his songs use the same 5 presets on his keyboard. There is just something really awesome about him though. There are some songs on YouTube.
I can't believe there are 19 (now 20) posts, and only one mentions the Beatles. The Beatles are, by far, the greatest band in history. Anyways, my list: 1. The Beatles 2. The Rolling Stones 3. Michael Jackson 4. The Who 5. Queen 6. Bon Jovi 7. Bob Marley 8. Billy Joel 9. Led Zeppelin 10. Barry Manilow/Frank Sinatra Of course now the odd thing is that if you ask me my favorite song, it would not be from any of the above bands-it would be Don't Stop Believin' by Journey. Unfortunately, I cannot include them in the list because that was their only good song. Neil Diamond just misses this list
