Badland Brawl-This game will be the hit in 2018, playing now in soft-launch and it’s all I play at the moment, so much fun, so good.

Snail Ride-A very simple but heartpounding game and I am number 1 on the leaderboard for it, which makes it even more fun for me.

Inside-Did not finish it yet taking my time, I like this way more than Limbo.

Cosmic Express-Very clever puzzle game, for the hardest levels I needed help from y2kmp3, thanks girl.

Monument Valley 2-Need I say more.

Red’s Kingdom-The first game this year I played and loved it instantly.

Campfire Cooking-Sill playing, great fun and clever.

    Resynth-Stylish music puzzler, sokoban style.

Swim Out-Also very stylish and fun to play.

BC Portal-It surprised me, the convoy test reminds me of lemmings ha ha.

That’s it and hereby do I wish everybody a Happy New Year and the best wishes, can it even get better than 2017.

Hmmm. Good lists, people! I have been waylaid by other formats, so I'm just going to list the 10 iOS games I enjoyed most last year.

Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions. My first time playing this - thanks to the RPG playalong - and I've found it to be pretty much a perfect game. The only thing I played more than this in 2017 was Zelda on the Switch.

Sword Art Online: Memory Defrag. Another first for me: never been hooked by a social RPG before. The fan service was decent, but the core is a surprisingly solid action RPG supported by a very generous gacha system. Deleted it for my own good.

Spaceplan. A clicker that actually goes somewhere. Funny, surprising and wonderfully compelling.

Oxenfree. Spooky, different and one of those games that demands to be played on an iPad in an empty room with headphones on and the lights off.

Million Onion Hotel. Well, if anyone thought Spaceplan or Oxenfree was different, this is one of those marvellously simple, goofy experienc s that you only seem to get on phones - and yet is as memorable as any AAA console game I played last year. I liked Dandy Dungeon a lot too, but Million Onion Hotel has the edge for weird and wonderful.

Death Road to Canada. What everyone else said. A fine game.

Final Fantasy. Played through it on a 3GS the best part of a decade earlier, but had a ball taking it on again on the Touch Arcade playalong.

Red's Kingdom. Thought I'd find the sliding around maddening, but it's colourful and friendly enough for anyone to enjoy.

MissileMan. Great twitch shooter, with a neat achievements method to unlock new weapons. Really satisfying explosions!

Heart Star. When your only complaint is that you want more levels, it's a good sign. Very charming platform puzzler by the always brilliant Jussi Simpanen (spelling?), even if it's not the most challenging game.

Honourable mentions: Golf Zero (I burnt out on some of the tougher levels, but it's a very clever twitch puzzle game). Aralon Sword and Shadow (another RPG playalong that introduced me to an iOS classic).Arkanoid vs Space Invaders (very enjoyable to the end, even if it hasn't lived long in my memory). Framed 2 (fantastic that they finally made some proper puzzles out of what was always a great concept).

Bought but not played enough to get a vote: Cat Quest, Card Thief, Forma 8.go, Layton's Mystery Journey.

Wow. It was a pretty good year, after all.

I had forgotten Flipping Legend, it just got updated and reminded me of what a gem it is.
