Yea but a portable console is still a console. And it is still one of the longest, deepest and most content filled game on the app store, even if it does have a semi-top down view.

When it was released the graphics were right up there, if not the best, on the app store. It still looks as good as anything on my 2G.

Trust me son put aralon on a real console and it will be the laughing stock of the rpg crop. Aralon is only marginally good on the IOS but on other platforms its a big meeeh.

If deadspace had 10 hours of gameplay , 3-4 more weapons, and at least 4 major boss fights it would be considered console quality. So with deadspace now is halfway to console quality in lenght . But for exp. deadspace nails the console quality exp perfectly.

Deadspace on the xbox is only 5-6 hours long. You never played Dead space on the console did you?

? Nope, it has too many bugs but otherwise long gameplay, great graphics and story = console quality

It's style may not be for everyone but I definitely think The Quest measures up in terms of content and game mechanics (nevermind the infinite expansions making it one of the deepest games on iOS).

Yes but I go threw the games alot slower than most people. I like to search for items and ammo because I like exploration. The deadspace on ios took me 4 and half hours but most people finish before I did.

Well said, dude. Overblown hype LOL. I first thought Aralon was fine (not great imho) when I played it. But now whenever every fanboy mentions and fights about it, it makes me hate it more and more. Even in discussions of a new different game, there's always someone that will mention Aralon in it. What the heck! :D :D

Look I like Aralon, but it doesn't have even close to what I'd consider a great story. Certainly not console-like caliber.

That and the NPCs are bland as hell.

Now if The Quest had Aralon's graphics, THAT would be a console-caliber game.

The only two I agree with are NOVA 2 and Dead Space.
And I lol'd at the "top 10 games" and "here's my top 5" as well.
The problem is no one wants to develop console quality games for the iDevice. That's why we're not getting any, or getting so very very little. If people are able to make great stuff like Infinity Blade, why not a 2.5D RPG that keeps people playing because there are so much to do, not the rubbish load of RPGs we already have? People might as well just make a complete clone of Ocarina of Time or Tales of Symphonia for iPad down to the character models and plot, and people will drool over that for months and years. But nope, no developer wants to make great nonlinear games with fantastic music and storyline, they're all too focused on improving the damn graphics or making crap like 2-way repetitive zombie shooters. iDevice games do not have that charm that lots of console games have, because there are simply many more things to do in console games besides following a linear gameplay. Yes Dead Space has great graphics, but it's exactly the same as any other Gameloft 1st person shooter. Follow the straight path from room onto room and shoot stuff, blablabla. Only difference is Gameloft made it even easier by giving you a compass that telling you exactly where to go next. It might have much better graphics than some of my Gamecube titles, but there's no possible way for an iDevice game to be played more than my console games.

Great list, but here is my list....

    1) Dead Space
    2) FIFA 11 (compared to all soccer apps in the app store).
    3) Galaxy On Fire 2
    4) Spiderman: total mayhem
    5) Real Racing 2
    6) infinity Blade
    7) Nova 2 (I love it's MP aspect more)
    8) Cod Zombies

These are my top 8 for now

I'm sure someone will immediately disagree but to me console gaming is not about cutting edge graphics but immersive gameplay with solid mechanics and depth. Here are a few games that I think are loaded enough with content to be considered "console quality."

    The Quest
    Space Invaders Infinity Gene
    Soccer Superstars
    Doodle Army
    Knights of Phantom Brave
    HacX
Doomsday: Hellraiser (also Doomsday II: Legions of Hell)
    Xenome: Episode 1
    Ash
    Bug Heroes

Maybe it's old fashioned but I'd just as soon play a quality NES title than some flash in the pan fireworks clipshow that looks good but is bankrupt in terms of gameplay (I'm looking at you Final Fantasy franchise).

Deap Space is console quality but just missing a bit more lenght,3-4 weapons, and maybe 2 more boss fights. Even if dead space had everything , people will still say oh its not console quality. People talking as if console quality is perfect, which it is not. Streetfighter 4 is console quality has all the moves and the charactors are being updated over time. Its missing some animations between rounds yes but thats about it. Yet everyone complains oh its missing this little thing , so its not console quality. I see alot of comments yemi dont understand here.
