If you go into the settings app, then tap on tomb raider icon. You get these options, just showing you incase anybody hasn't discovered them: 1: 2:
The snowy mountain is the start of the original game, the other one is Unfinished Business - extra levels continuing the story. I think each of the first three games had extra levels (at least # 1 and 3 did from what I can recall). Yeah, the controls are kind of hard at times, but the original three or four games were like that. The more you played them (I played the first 6 or 7 on a PC) the better you got at running, jumping, diving, shooting - more smoothly. So as a port, I'm sure there will be a little learning curve as you train your fingers to move the way this game wants you to. Speaking of diving, I got the achievement for diving when I was flipping up onto a ledge (over a pool, mind you - but still not a dive in any sense of the word!). If only I knew how I triggered that movement (grabbing onto a ledge and flipping her legs over her head, almost like a handstand on an edge).
I just had to look that up. Four new levels that I didn't play before. Nice. Also that's how I unlocked that achievement. To do that handstand you need to have the walk button pushed while she is pulling herself up from a ledge. CAUTION to anyone planning on trying the unfinished levels... Both games use the same three saves, so you could easily overwrite your save in the main game if you're not careful.
Can't ... control! I bought this instantly, just for the fact that this game cost me ~40 bucks plus ~300 bucks for a Monster 3D card back in the old PC-days. And now it's only a buck! And with graphics that look even better than in the old days? Give it to me! Gimme! Gimme! Well, there's a buck wasted! I do not mind the "classic" look, Lara with those pointy boobs, sometimes running "into" an obstacle, low polycount ... all that no problem. But THOSE CONTROLS! I gave up playing after 5 Minutes for good! It NEEDS an alternative control scheme for modern devices, then it could rock! "Classic" and "Original" are good things, bur only if they work. For now, it will lay dormant on my iPad until hopefully an update fixes this ...
Ah this brings back memories. The graphical improvements are nice other than that it's how I remember it and very cheap too. That's how it controlled originally.
I think they're not too bad, took a bit of time to get used to them but i was the same when i first discovered iOS gaming, all the time i was thinking 'i wish these devices would have physical buttons' but practice makes perfect and now i play a ton of games on iOS very well and find touch screen buttons really easy. I mean they've added controller support and icade support so thats one option, but if you perservere with these controls they're not bad at all
This plays so well in icade, I'm surprised at how good it works. 20 minutes to complete to first cave/tomb part so I've had my 69p worth out of it anything more is a bonus.
Havent played this game for sooooooo long its great to have it again I mean iOS is turning into a retro fans dream, i can play Pacman/Space Invaders/Wolfenstein/Doom/Duke Nukem/Sonic and now Tomb Raider. So many retro classics available. I remember this is quite a huge game, quite handy having youtube videos to check on if you get stuck. But a great silent release, very impressed
Lol, yeah, mate. Tomb Raider was the reason why I've bought a Voodoo3 3000! Yeah, lots of levels... from natural caves to temples, a hidden ancient valley (yay, Spoiler T-Rex! ), pyramids, to the Lost City Spoiler (Atlantis) , everything in. Huge amount of content. Tomb Raider 1 was a milestone and is one of the most influential sources of the action-adventure genre today.
Is this good to pick up, other than just for nostalgic purposes? I never used to play TR games, but I did play the hell out of a demo that was on my gran's computer back in the day!
Well firstly the price is so cheap its worth 'taking the risk'. Theres a lot of levels here, a lot of content and you've got this game on your device at all times. Personally think its worth it, again its 1 dollar ! Think when it comes to this price people shouldnt worry about their list of questions.
If you like any kind of adventure game, then this is worth getting. It was a full fledged computer/console adventure game in its day, even if it might not compare to games coming out now. See if you can find all the secrets and get all the achievements (the ones that are working at least).
Supports MFi games controllers, MOGA Ace Power & Logitech PowerShell,I've tried on both. Moga plays better due to the Analogue sticks.
