Wow, I am pleasantly surprised by the controls. I have this game on my Vita and was really only buying this for novelty sake, but the controls are comparible to having actual buttons. It works well in my opinion.
I disagree, I think she looks the most attractive in the 2013 reboot. They didn't try to "sex her up" like the earlier games. She looks much more natural now.
Agreed, having them both on my phone will be bliss. (as soon as KOTOR goes universal) I may have to redownload XMEN and start a new folder.
I know Yellowhat mentioned it before, but wanted to make sure... The game controls and performs well on iPhone 4? I've been burned before by games that said they supported iPhone 4, only to run very poorly (I know it's only a buck but I'm low on iTunes cash)
I agree with all of the excitement here purely from nostalgia. However, I will also caution those who are playing this game for the first time that the original (and the second and third) Tomb Raider game is actually very, very difficult. The targeting is terrible. The camera gets stuck a lot. And then there is the jumping... No amount of nostalgia will fix these issues. As with any classic franchise, we are quick to forget the bad parts of the game and remember only a "biased" favorable view.
The controls are better than I expected. As someone already mentioned turning while running could be better and the size of the d-pad/buttons should be able to be bigger for an iPad. Looking around shouldn't be done with the d-pad but not a big deal. Also the game saves automatically in the middle of a level and starts right were you left off. Christmas came early this year. Edit: After playing some more the controls can be a pain. At least saving at any time will negate some of the frustration from dying due to the controls. I recommend putting the jump button close to the shooting button so you can do both at the same time. It still seems hard to do. She doesn't want to keep jumping and ends up turning around a majority of the time when trying to jump sideways for example. My excitement is diminishing.
The new Tomb Raider is a reboot but also gives the story of how her tomb raiding career got started. Can you replay levels in this game? If I remember correctly, the early games would tell you how many secrets you found when you finish a level, does this one do that as well? How many secrets are in part one? Found two so far up to where I've played (including one Sanuku couldn't seem to get to - sorry man, I got it, but I played this one back in the day).
No mention of iCade support that I can see and cannot try it now cause the controller is back at home, hidden deep inside the keyboard drawer...will know when I get home after sunset...
Oh what a great news to see Tomb Raider 1 back on IOS! I love that game so much in the past and spent so much time playing it. Its a classical for all gamers around my generation. After Resident Evil (Biohazard), this one if one of the PS1 best games of all time. It was very hard to play it with a pad on PS1 (well games were much more difficult before), but even thom it was a great great game. Now this IOS is a exactly the same as the old one, and it feels the same, hard! But thats what I want, I dont like those boring games that are so easy that they only last 2 to 3 hours. I guess with a few updates the game will be even better, so I am looking forward to it. 1 dollar for such a game, its given.
