Love that this works with my iControlpad. Makes the game so much easier to play on both iPad mini and iPhone 5. Totally worth a dollar!!!
Well my grandfather turned 101 in March, so I'll try and get him to register... But his health has deteriorated since then. I pray for him. But if he does recover... I wish to register him here, and take the crown.
Whilst it's a fair point, 69p/99c isn't much, what if there were a hundred games this cheap? Should one be expected to still buy them all, because 99c is still so cheap!?
Well this is a very very famous game finally coming to iOS, the dev normally releases prices at a very high price and surprisingly this one is dirt dirt cheap. I like to believe that if this sells well Square Enix might think 'actually releasing them cheaper is far better than our high prices as we make more money overall....' We complain about freemium, we moan about high app prices, so when something like this happens i feel people should just embrace it instead of needing 48 reasons whether to buy this 1 dollar app or not. Granted if there were a 100 classic games from the late 90's suddenly released on iOS i would agree with you. But be honest, something like this appearing isnt often is it ?
Well, I was 15 when this came out. Instabuy, as I've never played these titles much in the past. I do remember the nude patch though. Controls are fine for me
This is one of several timed puzzles in the game. After completing the task you need to make it through the door as fast as you can before it closes again. I remember the timed puzzles as being VERY frustrating! In the PC version it was possible to download level skip cheats, and I needed to do that at one point in order to continue the game. No option for that here though!
Crystal Dynamics remade this game as Tomb Raider anniversary back in 2007. It's much more playable by today's standards and had a PSP/PS2 version available so probably would run nicely on current iOS devices. It's a bit of a shame they went this one instead. Mind blowing games back in the day, but like most early 3D console games, they've aged badly.
Think for a lot of older games its good, i dont think its aged badly, still a classic (And i still enjoy playing Duke Nukem/Doom on iOS). If this does well i hope they release more like this
I love the port and the controls play like the original with some practice. I have one question, how do slide down a slope so that u can jump and grab a higher ledge? Specifically, the area in the first level where the hidden medipack is at the beginning of the game? When i climb up my character automatically jumps instead of sliding?
Exactly my feelings. I think it's great having all these old ports on one device. It reaches a whole new generation, plus let's us old people relive the "glory days". I still have all my old consoles hooked up and could play most of these whenever I want, but something about having them all on one device that I can fit in my pocket is much more appealing. Plus it gives people like me a chance to play Classic PC games that I would have never got a chance to play. I've always been a console fan and missed out on a lot of great PC games.
Thanks for letting me know how to choose iCade as the controller but unfortunately, even though the direction keys work, the buttons are not functioning on my iPEGA controller (iCade compatible) so I am pretty much stuck at the main menu. This problem aside, the game is exactly how I remember it, run, stop to turn, stop and start running again. I can do some acrobatic moves which makes the game a landmark. Watch where you run, cause Lara has some sort of momentum built-in, or you will end up very frustrated. Of course, who can miss those big pairs of -- pistols. If you turned on "Save when minimized", the game save whenever it gets interrupted. You can also manually save it everywhere -- tap on the pause button on top left, select the bottom margin of the screen, then select the passport, touch the passport to flick to the middle page where it reads "save", click on the save text itself and select where you want to save it. Balm! No more b*t*ching about missing save games. I just passed the twin bridges while I was struggling to make iCade worked. Still a long way to go.
Pentium. Man those were the days. My parents had, at the time, bought a Pentium 75 based computer from Dell. Ah, back when Dell was good too. Anyway nostalgia aside, I think I'll go ahead and grab this for my iphone. I mean, it's a buck... might as well. I guess given this is called "Tomb Raider I" there's a chance we'll get a "Tomb Raider II" and III eventually. Sounds good to me.
Is Nathan McCree's music in the app? A damn shame if it wasn't. Funnilly enough, he only did an interview to a site a few weeks ago about the trilogy: http://platform-online.net/2013/11/interview-with-nathan-mccree/
XD. It was definitely Spice Girls. I was playing Tomb Raider at the times when a group of of girls from my highschool ate their brains with a music dipping sauce, and they were talking about Spice Girls non-stopping, every break... It's a miracle I'm still living. Some acrobatic lady filling lions with bullets helped a lot Definitely buying this NOW.
