Well... Now Im stuck on last hard level of castle. And Im too lazy to do the hard levels in sewer. So I think I will give the underwater easy level 1 another go. I mean its level 1!!! I should be able to pass it lol...
I'm really enjoying this game so far. The levels are challenging (even the last few of world 1), but never in such a way that seems impossible or frustrating. If I take a good look at the level in the zoomed out view, I can normally get the solution with a few attempts. Normally with these games I find they are either too easy or way too difficult to point of being frustrating, which hasn't happened yet in Toki Tori. I like the way items are used sparingly so that you have to use them all and in the right order/place to collect the eggs. It's also very satisfying when you do find the solution to a level thats had you stumped and it all becomes so obvious!
Re the bubble, it lets you move a limited number of spaces in any direction and then land on another ledge - the main annoying thing that you have to learn with it is that you can't touch eggs while in the bubble, so there has to be at least one space beside an egg on a ledge for you to land there. IMO the first couple of levels of world 4 are a bit confusing as it isn't at all obvious how it works - the bubble certainly adds to the open-endedness and hence the difficulty level, even once you get the hang of it . Sewers hard wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, though there's some weird stuff in there, e.g. level 9. Still enjoying it with just 4 world 4 hard to go. Kind of regret getting walkthrough advice on a couple of the earlier levels now, and I know I'll always remember how to do those levels now ><.
The last hard level for Bubble Barrage is slightly different from how it is on other platforms. I just spent a few hours trying to get it solved, decided to give up to just get it finished ... but found that the walkthroughs online don't even help. They pretty much just moved one wall, but it completely changes how one has to do the level and I still haven't got it. Hopefully it was an intended change and not a Numba level 77 style impossible level!
I picked this up over the weekend and I've got to say it's one of the most polished games in the App Store I've seen. It is virtually indistinguishable from a platform game and despite my concerns over the control scheme, it plays beautifully. I'm usually so busy trying to figure out the puzzle that controls are secondary. I would have thought this game would be more popular - it is first rate.
I just got this game over the weekend, and I love it. Toki Tori is probably the most addictive puzzle level game I have played so far. The gameplay flows very well, and because you are so busy trying to solve the puzzle, you dont even notice that the touchscreen method of point and move is not your preferred method of movement. However, I learned to use the point and move method to my advantage. Once you figure out what the lil' Toki guy can do, you can have it move a very long ways with just one click. Zoom out, click where you want him to go, and he can move half way across the level with just one click. I dont see much room for improvement, 80 levels is very nice, and i hope to have them all done by the end of the week. I give it 5/5
yeah, i have to agree....toki tori is one of the most polished games ive played....the graphics, music, controls...everything is spot on....perfect rating from me too...
Its not even on the charts. Not in the top 100 apps or games list. Its not even on the top paid puzzle games list!
In the US it is #34 in Top Paid Puzzles. Yard Sale is 33. Toki Tori is #42 in Top Paid Arcade. http://www.148apps.com/148-top-paid-games/ CatchaMouse2 is #143. In Puzzles it is #21. Wonder why this game did not catch on.
I'm not going to post a full-blown review, as I can't possibly compete with the front-page one, since my thoughts would be the same. With that said, this is one of the most satisfying puzzlers I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Each level I figure out I get a sense of accomplishment that I have yet to match with any other puzzler experience. My only criticism is the reason it took me so long to give in and buy it - no lite version. The screenshots alone weren't overly appealing*, and it took a lot of review-reading and video-watching to finally part with the cash. For a game that's five times the price of the vast majority of other app store games, it ended up being more of a leap of faith than other purchases I've made in the past. I can, however, safely say that it was well worth while, and can fully recommend this to anyone still hesitating to make the purchase. I think a lite version would likely bring in more players, and help Toki Tori move it's way up the ranks. *This is not to say that the graphics were lousy, or too "cute" or anything - it's merely to say that at a glace, it doesn't appear as deep as it truly is.
I'm just glad that I own it for the GBC, playing on a bigger screen either GBA or PSP with nice GBA graphics that are still good today, and a wonderful DPad movement that allows you to fully control your character. I'll take the old way all day any day. While new gamers are forced to lazily point and click and watch the comp move Toki, I can have Toki bounce around, stop on a dime and walk/run swiftly with more agility than muhammad ali. Accuracy of movement and full control makes a huge difference and makes the game much more enjoyable. I just hope all the sponsoring can help the new Toki out, because all the people who suggested another control option and were denied surely won't
I suppose the controls are acceptable for me since I haven't experienced any previous versions of this game on any other platforms. I could imagine those of you already familiar with this game would be a bit more critical of the control change.
i almost threw my ipod out the window trying to beat the last hard level in castle...............has anyone beat the whole thing? without cheating? ive watched videos of how to beat some levels AFTER i beat them...and i've noticed some interesting differences...it seems im a glutton for finding the hardest way in some instances..
Locked Version Saw this funny note at the end of level 10. And yes, I now have purchased the full version. Very interesting since there is no "lite" version. Somehow they must have figured out a nice way to prevent pirating.
