I've never played the board game. I'll wait on impressions but I'm going to also do some more digging nlesgold Active Member Patreon Bronze May 22, 2011 37 8 8 RN Pittsburgh, PA #3 nlesgold, Mar 20, 2017 Experiences with the original board game The basic idea of this game is that you were on a journey and trying to maximize the quality of the experience you have along the way. That's different spaces on the map you can do things like mingle with fellow travelers, check out a pretty view, soak in a hot spring, purchase souvenirs, pray at a temple (and make a donation), inexplicably get money from farmers, etc. each turn is taken by the player furthest from the end of the journey. You can move to any space along the road to head directly, with the exception that there are four checkpoints that each player must stop at. However, it's not a good idea to go to far ahead of the other players, because then they can take advantage of all the spaces you skipped over before you get your next turn. At the end of the game each different kind of experience is worth points, as well as extra points for being the most devoted to one type of experience, such as soaking in more Hot Springs than anyone else, or making the most donations to the temples. Most points wins. cameron331 Well-Known Member Nov 22, 2010 163 4 18 #4 cameron331, Mar 20, 2017 It's a fairly light strategy game with a beautiful theme. Not too many decisions to make, turns are quick. Should be a great fit on mobile. For single player experience, it is wonderful! I strongly recommend this. For online, you need to create an account on the server. You can create your own game (called "room") and have to wait for player. During the beta period, I have yet to have a chance to play again any human since you need to stay on the app, waiting for other players to join in first before starting. I heard it is async. Since this is very new, I am yet to find any player online. Maverik Well-Known Member Jan 18, 2013 50 0 6 #11 Maverik, Mar 21, 2017 I'd consider this if multi player had matching. The current system sounds painful. Single player won't entertain for long currymutton Well-Known Member Oct 16, 2008 4,430 1 0 #12 currymutton, Mar 21, 2017 Unlike Colt Express et al., it still has Pass-and-Play. I like this game, but well, I may not go online often. If you ask me, I really don't get why async online games need everyone to sign on together first. Playdek has set an excellent example how this can be done.
