The game definitely does that on Epic difficulty. Haven't farmed enough on Legendary to prove it for certain.
I'll presume your fighting Alastor - Scourge of Acharon at the end of the catacombs? Two things about him are 1). Kill the wraiths he spawns right away because they suck your life and give it to him... 2). Max your cold resistance. You can farm the nearest vendor for rings and armor with cold resist. I know - it sucks to give up your choice pieces of gear for simple yellow items with cold resist, but it's just for one fight.
No Legendaries? I just finished Epic at Lvl 49 on a conquerer and haven't got a single purple item And I only got 5-6 blues. Huh. Last time thru epic (Conjurer/48) I got 9-10 purples (two that were really good for my class).
Yeah that's the guy. I had a ring and some grieves with high resistance and bout a second ring and got to -40ish% I thought I had high cold resistance before I fought him the first time but I realized after it was at +40% adding damage lol. I had miss read it. I've been stock piling resistance pieces since people were saying it's impossible without them.
Ok so I'm confused on the resistances I added a bunch of cold and it made it -% when I fought talos(spelling) I added a bunch of fire resistance and it went from like 7 to 69% is is supposed to go positive or negative the more you have?
Oh god that guy was hell for me on normal. Without mouse targetting I couldnt reliably kill the wraiths. Took me ages of kiting to bring him down. Then on epic I was dreading the fight, but my damage was better and I just melted him really fast. Almost to him in legendary now.
In fact, I finished epic with the same weapon I started - a Deathweaver Legtip. I got it late in normal, and applied an epic relic to it, but I ran the entire game is epic without finding something better.
A Question of Mechanics As stated In a previous post, I used a Deathweaver Legtip acquired late in normal all the way thru epic. I never found anything better. The question is wether it's REALLY better, or does the game just think so. Here's the stats: 58-64 Damage 20% piercing Fast 32% damage 225 poison over 6 seconds 5.0% chance of 275% poison damage Considering my mastery bonuses and other gear, my attack speed is 169%, so I'm whacking a target super-fast. Is the poison DoT from that weapon applied each time I whack? Such that if I hit the target 5 times in a second, will the target then have a 6 second, 1,125 damage DoT?, will it only be one DoT active at a time? If it's the latter, then I don't think this weapon accurately reports DPS. I might have to try some different weapons and see what actually kills things faster.
Also, I did confirm that on legendary, majestic chests disappear after you farm them for a while. Makes me wonder what the end game replay ability will be (if my Slayer makes it that far). I am carrying around such a silly arsenal of weapons right now...
I got suckered by the DPS calculations. Based on the math, the game is calculating that 225 poison DoT as an additional 37.5 damage per whack (255 damage / 6 seconds) or roughly 93.8 DPS. The reality is that it's an additional ~17 damage per second (DoT damage happens once every second) which is ~76 less DPS than what the game reports under char stats. I armed a mediocre yellow axe with a reported DPS of 85 less than the deathweaver's Legtip, and killed stuff A LOT faster. I had neglected a few choice pieces of xx% Attack Speed because I was up against the 170% cap with the FAST weapon. Add in the %speed and a slower more powerful weapon and my killing speed tripled. Lessons learned: do your own math with "over time" damage.
Legendary drop updates. Still no bow for my Ranger but I found a legendary amulet, Blessing of the gods. Was excited but the stats are not too offensive. Good Pierce, elemental and poison resistance and then all stats and health. I'm wearing it for the defense but it's a dps downgrade from my green one with a rune. Recently I just got a Spear with incredible dps, useless, and a staff, useless.
So I fell off the map. In one of the pyramids, I went through the door and when I went back, if I wasn't at the doorway, I fell off the map and died. Was kinda funny, but def a bug.
Really? A bunch of the archer skills also apply to spear, and a shield will greatly increase your survivability in some fights. I have a bunch of legendary bows, but since j converted to straight dual wield, I have no points in archery stuff. As I get closer to max level, I can start considering splitting time between dual wield and archery. Also, Blessing of the Gods saw me through most of legendary. I recently picked up a Myrmidon's Pendant, which is a more generally kickass option (mine is +46% damage!).
scorpos king i farmed scorpos king for about 4 hours and found a legendary sword called doxa kalo and both majestic boxes were there everytime in epic. the sword dropped from the jackals prior to the boss. im farming the 3 gorgon queens now for the stone binder cuffs for my lv 43 conqueror.
just got wardens breastplate which has 50% less damage from beasts and meriones bow. the breastplate makes farming the gorgon queens a cakewalk lol
