I was thinking the same thing. Similar to some of the Hook Champ games, e.g. avalanche mode in Quickhook. I love the tension that creates, when you know "game over" is right behind you and you've really got push yourself to keep from being over-taken. Edit: I should mention that this, and the ability to play my own music, are the only real suggestions I have for this game, which is otherwise damn near perfection. I find that I'm unable to stop my finger from tapping the button to play again. And again. And again. ...And I love it every time. Fantastic stuff.
After reading the glowing reviews here and the great 5/5 over @ Appspy, I gotta get this! Especially the part about possibly knocking Canabalt off it's perch...Pretty high praise! It's crazy how some of these games just fly under the radar. Can't wait to give it a try....Looks fun!
Congrats on the Appspy review and keep the updates coming and this game could and should be a big a hit as Angry Birds and Doodle Jump Edit : Nice front page review on TA as well : )
I pretty much suck at playing any kind of game, but sucking at this game leaves me feeling happy & content anyway. It's just that charming! Took me about 20 tries to get to island four *blushes*
As I said before, I fully expect the great majority of the reviews of this game to be very very positive, nevertheless, congrats to Andreas on the Appspy review. One thing though--the review lists "leaderboards currently not availlable." But...there is an OpenFeint leaderboard so I'm not sure what happened with Mr. Nesvadba's internet connection. And oh yes, very nice TA review as well. Tiny Wings is heading for the top, I'm telling ya!
One thing, if I launch Game Channel and scroll through my games, Tiny Wings is not in the bottom of that list. Also when I go into the OF button in Tiny Wings, instead of saying 'squeaker is playing Tiny Wings' it says 'squeaker is playing Game Channel'. Which leads me to think that OF is not integrated properly. You may want to look into it, Andreas. And yeah, lovely front page review. Congrats.
Wonderful game. Not meaning to make a pun, but it's a very uplifting little game. Actually feel happy for the little bird everytime it makes a good slide and soars through the air. Night takes over and the bird falls asleep, and then you feel like playing again and hoping to go further this time round.
this may be one of the most satisfying games I've ever played on the iOS. Fantastic music, a little bird with a little personality, and fantastic graphics and music. can't wait to see some updates (hint: game center, more birds -but not angry ones, PLEASE- and more nests). keep up the good work, this game is fantastic!
In case anyone hasn't read the TA review yet: http://toucharcade.com/2011/02/22/tiny-wings-review/ Congrats Andreas
Idea for making the game better: Have a small mini-map of the island on the bottom right or left corner (player's choice) so that we can see what kinds of hills are coming up.
Damn, beat me to it! Anyway well done to all you who made the review possible through campaigning. Let's hope the Dev continues his work on this epic app!
Trust me, it's not needed. The 'pastel palette' nature of the graphics is just about perfect as it is.
It really doesn't need it. If doing all the work to support the retina display means the dev can add less content in the future, I don't think there should be any question about which would be a better use of time and assets.
Totally agree... the game looks fantastic as is. I'd rather see what ideas the dev has to expand the game, and not waste time retina-izing the look, which might mess up the subtle watercolor style (which is beautiful).
Huge fan of the game here (thx DJFlippy) for bringing this one to my attention with your forum post. Basically everything I can say about the game has already been said here. Just love that feeling you get in your body when you perform perfect slides. I also agree that some unlockables would be great as well. Maybe some rockets to go faster, a "homing helmet" that automatically alters your tragectory and makes perfect slides easier to pull off, etc. However my biggest wish would be custom music being allowed in game. For a game that is as addicting as this, I always consider this feature a MUST HAVE. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add the ability to listen to our own music while playing this game. Other than that, this is a must own, 5 Star gem.
