A lot of games save your high scores and then upload them to gaming services (like OF) the next time you go online. Thus, all someone has to do is hack their game file on their phone. There isn't much OF can do about it, aside from maybe deleting hackers when the game devs report it.
Does everyone get the same islands each day? 'Cuz if so, people should definitely check out today's islands. I just beat my old high score twice, including on my first serious playthrough. I think it's a combination of: 1) Some of the early islands are going faster than usual. 2) I'm finding it really easy to maintain a fever on island 7.
Thx for the info, I didn't know that. I Can see that it's a hard nut to crack, but still, they ought to come up with a solution to the problem, or a different way of reporting high scores. The high score tables are useless as it is right now, not just in this game, almost every single game I've played on my idevices, and not just OpenFeint either... Personally, I haven't the slightest idea how they could fix it, but I'm not a programmer, I would just think there ought to be a solution if they put their minds to it..
Maybe this should be the responsibility of the developer to encrypt the game file(s) in question in such a way as to prevent anyone from arbitrarily changing anything by just merely browsing for and editing the high score data?
That sounds like a great idea, although I think it has to be OpenFeint et al. that have to implement an encryption in the first place.
The dev said in twitter that the update is done and that he's testing it for a bit before submitting it to Apple tomorrow. http://twitter.com/andreasilliger
No, you should not be able to meddle with the game files in the first place, that's why I proposed the dev-imposed encryption. How is OpenFeint encryption going to prevent a submission of a high score that has already been "fixed" on the device?
What I meant was, that in order for this to work, OpenFeint have to implement this first and give the Devs the tools to make the encryption. openFeint won't be able to read the encrypted files otherwise I would think. Maybe I'm in the wrong here, as I stated earlier, I haven't the slightest idea of programming.. Of course, it doesn't really matter, the idea is great no matter what.
Just lamenting the fact that I was trying for 175,000 and got 173,664. I almost cried D: Love this app so much.
Finally I have completed all the achivements!! Nest*28. At first I thought it was simple and boring but actually it's really fun and addictive.
Nah, they wouldn't have to send the encrypted scores to OF. They'd just need to encrypt the save game file. Then the game itself could decrypt it. It's not like hackers are intercepting the scores while the game is sending them to OF.
Ahh, I see your point. It really would be great if someone made a solution like that standard, so they once and for all could get rid of those hacked leader boards...
great game. i get really addicted to these simple one button games where you need to get as far as you can. spent hours on canabalt, doodle jump, and now on tiny wing lol
