I think the slopes do stay the same, just the pickups move. I'm on the second to last nest now. Challenging.
Definitely a fun game. I love the everchanging landscapes! So.....it's bird vs. bird is it....hmmmm...
Thank you! This solved my sound issue. Somehow, this game isn't as fun to play without being able to hear those little "Wahooooo!" cheers when you travel from island to island.
It's based on the time set on your local device. For example, if you change the date on your ipad / iphone to tomorrow, a new terrain will appear when you start the game.
For me at least, the shape of the slopes do change every midnight. Sometimes it's a very subtle change and other times more noticeable.
It's been mentioned a few times earlier in this thread...but if you tap once straight after jumping it slows you down, stops the bird going so high and allows you to swoop back down with a second touch.
34s frenzy 34s frenzy objective: My best is 31.8s. At first I tried to do it from from the very start, but couldn't last long enough. I seem to get the longest frenzies from the middle of island 2 and into island 3, if I can stick the landing. I'm trying different combinations of (a) jumping high and (b) tapping once to fly lower, to avoid troublesome slopes.
Yeah, the sounds are a must! I discovered that I also get the sound dropping when I set things to download and install, then play the game while that's taking place. That is apparently a no-no. As for the 34s deal, that best way to take care of it is to start and take care of it right as the game begins. Don't even bother continuing the game if you don't get the perfect landing/slide on that first little hill right as you fall out of your nest. Drop out of the nest, land that one perfectly, and just go from there. It will take you the entire first island, and about 2-3 perfect landings in the second island. The only really tricky part about it is landing perfectly on the second island. You want to hit the second decline, and you can only do it if you tap a time or two before you even get to the second island, and then time it just right. If you land that one, you're pretty much home free if you know what you're doing.
I think your right! The change was indeed subtle, but I saw a view differences. For instance, it was easier to do a perfect slide direct on the 2nd island. Yesterday it was a lot harder.
I agree with the objectives. I just think a lot of people like the game as it is, so keeping a classic mode and then having a power up mode alongside it offers maximum replayibility and pleases everyone. Also, not all of those should be based on cloud touches. random power up coins would actually, imo, be better as they are more accessible even to beginners. And the swiping kinda ruins it, so probably different powerups that are automatically applied? because its not really one "button" or "one touch" if u have to swipe. But weather sounds awesome
"Bonus round" islands would be nice. They could have fewer and steeper hills and allow the player to pick up more time against nightfall. Another idea: If launched high enough in a fever, the bird could sail past the clouds into a starry sky and upside down moon hills. The clock would stop during this zone, but losing the fever would cause the bird to fall back to earth.
I got 34.1s earlier, after getting 33.2 a few goes before, which sucked! The way I got it in the end was to regulate the bird's speed, so he was going quite slowly but still jumping quite high. This meant there was less slopes to deal with and so less opportunity to mess up, because it took 2/3/4 seconds between each slope. Also, because he was going pretty slowly I had plenty of time to react when slopes came up.
@DownHome / ToyThatKills: Thanks for your suggestions. I got the 34s frenzy between islands 2 and 3 in the end, which opened up the next three objectives: - Reaching island 8 should be okay, as almost got there a few times. - 175000 points seems possible, but will take some time. 141731 is my top score, but only just went up to x26 multiplier. Guess I'll need to focus on coins more than distance. - 5 swoops after an island jump. Hmmm.
Completed the last objective, "obtain 170 000 points", and I'm freaking happy about it. You're practically forced to not screw up even once. xP Hope Gamecenter arrives soon. I enjoy achievements too.
I've jumped back through the thread and didn't see anything, so sorry if it's a repeat. Does anyone have any tips for getting to island 4 without doing any swoop things. I keep accidentally getting them.
The second you get to the top of the hill, hold the screen and keep repeating. Try not to to well when coming in from an island, too.
