So I'll ask this again since my question got lost in this massive thread. Any tips or tricks on gettny to island 5 without using fever mode?! I just can't manage to keep up enough momentum on island 4 and the night always catches up to me! I had very few problems with earlier objectives but this one is really biting my ass here
A tip I found useful was to land closer to the top of the hills so it wont count as a great slide or dip or whatever. The bird should be bouncing a little as it goes down.
I asked this a few pages back and Squeaker gave me this tip: "Glide your way across the islands like a penguin, hold the screen at every ramp, lift your finger a little nearing the end of the ramp and hold screen again just before the start of the next ramp. With a little practice you can do smooth glidings all the way. If you're impatient, you can soar your bird after a couple glides, but force it down such that it will not do a dip but get it into another couple glides instead." It worked on the first try Now I'm stuck on the 28x objective: 5x Great Slides after an Island jump
holy hell, what a great tip! it worked the first time for me as well!! thanks for reposting that and thanks squeaker! i actually made it all the way to island 8 for the first time as well!
Crash? I like this game but, without reading the whole thread, does anybody else find that it crashes a lot? It seems like every time I play it, I get to island 6 and lose and the game crashed out. Almost every time! =(
Such a lovely game. I find not all games really deserve the hype they get but Tiny Wings definitely does. It plays great - really simple and yet with so much to master. And the look and atmosphere is beautiful. If there's one thing I'd love to have in this game, it's a dynamic soundtrack. You know the way the look changes each day? I'd love to have the same with the music. Like the way games like Nights Into Dreams would remix its soundtrack with different instrumentation.
I'm really struggling with the 34s fever mode. I find that if I begin the round with a fever mode, I can get to 30 seconds, but there is a hill that you just can't do it on. Did you guys start on island two?
I started on island 1 and went as slow as I could. I finally got all achievements . The most difficult for me was reaching 175,000 points. I finally managed, though!
Okay... I trawled through all 76 pages (so far), and it seems that people are asking for things like more nests, 'coffee pills' inside the clouds, 'rewind time' pills, etc... and, while I think they all sound fun, I think they run against the whole design principle of simplicity. This games doesn't need more things to 'trick it out'. It's got all it needs right here. However, that being said, no one's mentioned something that occurred to me last night, as I was wrestling my iPhone away from my fiancee. IF GC is coming and I think the developer said it was ... then wouldn't the next logical step be to implement some form of challenge system? The whole point of the game seems to be nests Vs. points Vs. distance (islands)... So, competing against other players in terms of distance (i.e. before sunset) makes a lot of sense. ...or is it just me? This could be something so simple as a faint vertical line that shows the other person's position relative to yours. And, if they are way ahead, or behind, then an arrow pointing in that direction - with size indicating 'closeness'. I just worry that adding sth to the existing game mechanics, such as power-ups, will in some way 'un-simplify' what is supposed to be a simple premiss, accompanied by clear objectives and a very level playing field...
So how am I supposed to get 10 slides/jumps(whatever it is) on the first island? Seems like I can barely do 6 before the isalnd ends..
I just bought and started playing Tiny Wings, and now I'm having a problem with it. I can no longer hear the sounds for when you collect coins or whenever the bird would make any noises, such as launching to a new island or a cloud touch. Is anyone else having this problem, or know how to fix it?
I agree with you. I think powerups are a bad idea. I take back my coffee cup in the clouds suggestion More GC integration like challenges is definitely interesting, but the score multiplier makes it unfair to compare between players at different nest levels.
Fair enough... so how about one that's purely focused on distance/islands? This particular aspect isn't influenced by 'nest-prowess'...
But then again, you can't get the better nests unless you're good, so I don't see how it matters, apart from having to 'grind' a bit to get there.
