Use the hills as jumps - slide down, flap your wings and fly! At least for a moment - until this annoying gravity brings you back down to earth. But the next hill is waiting for you already. Watch out for the night and fly as fast as you can. Otherwise flying will only be a dream once again. Tiny Wings was chosen as the iPhone Game of the Year in App Store Rewind 2011 in Europe and many other countries. Thank you Apple and a big thank you to all Tiny Wings fans! Highlights: • simple "one button" (ok... maybe "one tap") arcade game about the dream of flying • the world is changing every day - so it does in this game! Procedural generated graphics will make "tiny wings" look different every day you play • Two game modes: "Day Trip" and "Flight School" • iPad only: Split screen multiplayer! • upgrade your nest by fulfilling tasks • Play as the mama bird or one of her four children • 30 hand-designed levels in the new "Flight School" mode • iCloud support (even syncs your game between the iPhone & iPad versions) Information Seller:Andreas Illiger Genre:Action, Arcade Release:Feb 18, 2011 Updated:Mar 22, 2024 Version:2.4.3 Size:35.2 MB TouchArcade Rating: User Rating: (87) Your Rating:unrated Compatibility:HD Universal Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel TA Review: http://toucharcade.com/2011/02/22/tiny-wings-review/ ColeDaddy Silver Supporter<br>Moderator Staff Member Patreon Silver Patreon Gold Patreon Bronze Mar 20, 2010 4,234 131 63 Male Sojourner Washington D.C. #2 ColeDaddy, Feb 20, 2011 The artwork is incredible. Fly and slide a pudgy little bird through beautifully rendered, procedurally generated landscapes, in order to get as far as you can by nightfall, when your ornery little ornithopter lays down her weary head to rest. The art style is very painterly and the music is fun, but soothing. There are a number of different islands to reach, each with their own terrain to explore. You are presented with a series of hills you must traverse, which is accomplished by holding a finger on the screen to dive down the slopes and lifting your finger to fly up and over the hills. Those are the only controls. The game is all about timing and rhythm. You have to gauge your speed and judge when to dive, in order to retain your momentum. Simply elegant controls matched with the right-brain depth of play make for a very rewarding experience. There are goodies to collect along the way and upgrades for your nest that are obtained by completing predefined objectives. At the end of every flight, it scores you based on islands reached, number of cloudtouches, fever mode streaks, and goodies grabbed. The game is OpenFeint-enabled, offering both Achievements and Leaderboards. None of these things are what make the game good, it's the fact that the game allows you to enter the flow state. Playing [app]Tiny Wings[/app] is very Zen-like; the feeling one gets when hitting the slopes perfectly and soaring into the sky is profound. This game is like flying through a storybook and it captures the beauty of dreams. Update: After playing the game for quite a while I started to feel a bit strange, so I wanted to give you guys a heads up. I believe the feeling was what is commonly referred to as "happiness". I stopped playing immediately, of course, just to be safe, but I'm pretty certain that's what it was. Therefore, I must offer my professional opinion on the matter, which is as follows: If every person in the world played Tiny Wings, there would be no wars. I was and the textures change completely each day. c.ihls Well-Known Member Dec 30, 2009 291 1 0 #16 c.ihls, Feb 20, 2011 Game Impressions Wonderful game! I really like all the new ideas in this endless-running game: - coins to collect - booster-coins - perfect slides - fever mode after three consecutive perfect slides - daily changing island designs (only got up at 2 am this morning to see the new designs) - different tasks to fulfill to get a higher score multiplier But most of all I really love the brilliant presentation, the cute little bird - and the relaxing fun overall atmosphere of the whole game! At this price an easy recommendation - I'm sure, you'll love Tiny Wings, too Silent Rocco Well-Known Member Nov 30, 2010 57 0 0 nonverbalist Berlin http://www.silentrocco.com #17 Silent Rocco, Feb 20, 2011 I would love to see this game at the pole. It's really something new and special following Doddle Jump, Fruit Ninja or Angry Birds. The presentation is great, controls worl perfectly and it's really fun and addictive. Great job!! Squeaker Well-Known Member May 31, 2009 3,366 7 38 Bookland #18 Squeaker, Feb 20, 2011 Very cool little game. Was almost sucked into timelessness listening to the in-game music while touching the screen with only one finger. And yeah, I'll beware of that 'happiness' feeling. Gabrien Well-Known Member Nov 24, 2009 5,148 0 36 #19 Gabrien, Feb 20, 2011 Game Impressions Artless concept, compelling mechanic, charming execution. Only improvement I'd like to see: gradual slowing down until finally falling asleep when night comes. The way the game ends now feels a little abrupt, and it would feel good to squeeze out those last few yards right at the end. Squeaker Well-Known Member May 31, 2009 3,366 7 38 Bookland #20 Squeaker, Feb 20, 2011 Yeah right now it's like birdy gets hit by sudden fatigue and drops off to sleep (or maybe death =P) I personally find it funny but yes it'd be nice to get a gradual stop. At least that way I know birdy is safe. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
