pluses and minuses of going tall I know a number of people advocated staying smaller with their towers as a strategy, due to the linear growth of income vs. the semi-exponential growth of building new floors. The call of growth was too much for me, so I used a strategy of maximizing coins to grow, and thought I'd put out some pluses/minuses for a taller tower (I'm waiting on floor 80 now). Pluses: Have whatever casino is the If you keep your floors roughly in sync with levels and start times for restocking, when you get a run of fully stocked floors the chips pour in. With 50 floors at level 8, when they all are fully stocked I get from 15-30 chips in a burst. Missions pay more (getting 5 chips now). The longer time between floors makes it easier to get enough bux to set the floor up optimally. More dream jobbers show up. This isn't as great for me since I dress up most of them (which makes missions much easier) and then don't want to swap them. Watching the stretch of tower fly by as I take a guest up to a higher floor can be oddly gratifying sometimes. The increase in income from a lot of floors does slow things down some, but if I keep the hotels cranking income still comes in pretty fast, if I keep them grinding I can make enough for a new floor in 2-3 days. When I come back to the game after a few hours I'll pull in 300,000+ coins, and if it sits idle for a long time it can be almost 1,000,000. The missions aren't really bad with the extra floors, with all the DJs dressed up as astronauts the targets stand out (except when it's those guys in the jumpsuits). Minuses: New floors take aeons to complete construction. At this point it's almost 2 days. Whenever I get a -3 hour worker I hang onto them, they are precious. This is one aspect of the game where the increase is really pointless since it doesn't balance anything. Usually by the time a floor is done if I haven't done anything to speed it up I'm close to being ready to start the next. Keeping hotels loaded is either a grind or a bux-suck, but the only way to keep income moving, the commercial floors are steady but slow. Elevator upgrades are way too expensive, but critical. I was on 4.5 floors/sec for a long tine since I was focusing on upgrades, and when someone wanted to get to a high numbered floor, if I had a worker I'd sometimes use them to just to punt the long ride out of the elevator. At this point I've been upgrading and the speed is not so bad, but those upgrade costs are so brutal. Overall I find the larger tower more interesting, since there's more to do, and the pluses are generally worth it, though the grinding to eke out bux to get an elevator upgrade is not my favorite, and the wait for floor construction almost feels like it's abusive.
I used to get a slow trickle of occasional visitors to my tower, but now I get none and have gotten none for a long while. Up until now, I had made a point to daily (or as often as I remembered) visit all people on my friend list who had the game-of-the-day. I gave up on the multiplayer aspect for a few weeks a while back, and then started up again. If I'd have to venture a guess for the drop-off in visitors, I'd wager perhaps I've violated the etiquette somehow. It seems that at some point the etiquette here has solidified into a hard "tip your entire friend list daily and also do tip-backs" policy? Between that and my friend list getting out of date with inactive players (I don't frequent these forums very often so I haven't updated my list in a few months), I'd say that's probably the explanation. I've browsed the most recent pages on this thread, and I'm getting an idea of the current status quo. I'm giving it another shot: I've joined #taleague (I already have the bronze trophy, so I'm all about that silver and gold). I'm going to purge my friends list and add everyone from the long list that's currently circulating here. I'll go through that list daily and play at everyone's tower, even if they don't have the game-of-the-day. And I'll tip back. If you all deem me worthy, I'd love a visit or two. Thanks. - 10XPQ
TRB4 was the person who wrote compellingly about the advantages of a smaller tower. The basis for his arguments was mathematics & I learned a great deal from some of his ideas about building & probability. One would do well to read his past posts. FWIW, he is no longer playing, a victim of boredom if I recall correctly. The same boredom (translation: why am I doing the same thing day after day [?] is what caused me to continue to build). About your pluses: Many of the pluses are valid but depend on game play (time + patience + interest). For example, I decided to build beyond 39 floors for I was falling prey to the boredom which has overtaken many a player. About your minuses: These 5 words taken from the paragraphs above explain the minuses in stark terms for both of us: eons, pointless, grind, bux-suck, & brutal. To my knowledge, there is no etiquette. Different people play different ways & have varying ideas about gifting. As far as I go, I appreciate each & every gift I get & have noted the exceptional gifters here (something we always did in the Pocket Frog forum). The list is NOT exclusive & shouldn't be interpreted as such. Others gift me but I chose to mention the most regular gifters. That said, if I find that someone has stopped playing (as judged by level & bux) or has stopped gifting (or rarely reciprocates), I simply stop visiting them. This sentence was painful for me to read. How can a person be "deemed" worthy or unworthy! Who are we to judge? Who among us could pass such a test according to 100% of us for we all have differing standards: the most faithful gifter or the biggest tower or the player with the current game, etc? I've added you to my list of friends & hope others do as well.
Thank you. Do we know if there's any benefit to visiting a tipper who you have already tipped that day? ie is there a cap of one tip per day per user, or does it reset when they acknowledge your tip, or not at all? I've been assuming that if they remain darkened on my list I can't tip them again, but I realize I don't know for sure.
Really? I've still yet to see one Candy i guess, lollies are just an Australian (and NZ) term for it. Agree with your points. Ultimately TTV is a grindy sort of game. The entire gameplay revolves around doing repetitive tasks to build a bigger and bigger, err tower. There's no real payoff and no 'congratulations you are a winner' type messages when you finish, just more grinding. While that sounds depressing and futile, in this case the journey definitely is the destination. I still find the game enjoyable in it's simplicity and, doesn't really require much thought to play and great for filling in a few minutes here and there. Welcome
Do we know yet who 20YJ6, 1FTMR, and 2B0H are? They're all very cooperative players, and I want to put names to the codes.
According to the Wiki they both serve popcorn. Ironically the popcorn at the buffet is twice as expensive as the movie theater.
I've never experienced this before, but as of the current Player's Club event, none of my winnings are being tallied. My total remains at zero and the button shows "UPDATE PENDING". It's been that way for a few hours. Anybody else have this problem? Also, this afternoon for the first time my game crashes instantly when I try to watch videos for free chips. I get both these problems when I connect both by wi-fi and by the LTE network.
yep, same problem. Stuck at zero. No video crashes yet though. Seems like everyone in TALEAGUE is having this issue? looks like we're drifting down the charts, other leagues seem to be ok.Wonder what's up.
