That sounds like a pretty good idea, but there are a few problems. First, I tend to ALWAYS swap out dream jobs for the chip, but if I wanted to costume code my tower it would cost me 25 bux every time I swapped out a dream job. Since I get an average of 24 bux per chip it doesn't really make sense to swap out dream jobs anymore. Secondly you would need to choose a costume that isn't used by a finding mission (Check in missions wouldn't matter). Does anyone have a complete list of all costumes used during finding missions? I know for a fact that the following costumes are used in finding missions: Airline Pilot Archaeologist Barber Baseball Uniform Bellhop Boxer Caveman Convict Dinosaur Diver Fireman Football Player Ghost G-man Guard Hunter Judge Leather Jacket Magician Mime Ninja Panda Suit Pirate Plumber A Rockstar Sailor Security Surgeon Toga Travel Agent Uncle Sam Usher I was thinking that the Trooper costume might work well, I know it is used in a check in mission, but does anyone know if it is used in a finding mission? EDIT: I just realized if there is a mission that requires you to find the Trooper costume I could just skip it. So it's decided, my tower is now the Empire! I am exclusively employing Troopers on all floors to see if it makes missions quicker.
I simply couldn't adopt this idea of yours no matter how mathematically logical. Why? Too much a fan of the original TT. This is also logical BUT I already inadvertently hired (will fire when chance) some "bitzens" who look like "find" characters like the policeman, the doctor, or the female bitizen in the polka-dotted dress who has a while box in her hair. With a bigger tower, these "distraction" characters would make the mission more difficult to find. Guess this is my point with the exception of the fact that you'd have to pay bux for the costume rather than coins for hiring. p.s.: The best tips I got from you, at least for my style of gameplay, have been to hold off on building floors (how much do floors 22-27 cost, BTW?) & to gamble more. Still, I'm still terrible in the gambling area for I simply don't do it often enough for I dislike losing! More's the pity for this game is about gambling.
I'd only put costumes on the "keepers", so that would be 2 out of 3 bitizens on each floor per your method of bitizen swapping. I'm keeping all my level 9 dream jobs, so I'm thinking of putting costumes on all 3 per completed floor. I would use a different costume for each floor, consistent with the theme (e.g. leprechaun for Patty's Slots, cowboy for High Noon Poker, etc.), not a single costume for the entire tower. That might still lead to conflicts for a single floor, but I get that now anyway (e.g. finding ninjas on a hotel suite in which three ninjas are guests from a previous check-in mission). The rest of the tower ought to be free of costume conflicts.
lisianne, Here's a spreadsheet I use to let me know what to expect for the cost of each floor. I gathered the cost formulas from http://www.tinytowervegaswiki.com/wiki/Construction https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1q1eaU201zT6dtCa9kYCsYCZ6PukzFQjL6gE1T8LNFsI/edit?usp=sharing I also added some other columns to calculate how long it should take to gather the money for each new level. It's pretty simplistic though, it assumes 100% efficiency in keeping items stocked. Which is unrealistic, but it'll give you an idea of how long it should take. Anyone should be able to view it. Enjoy!
I also have my own crazy spreadsheet for this game (It is currently 4 sheets). I have to tell you though, your estimate for Coins/Day is a little bit too optimistic. You're not only assuming 100% efficiency you're also assuming zero restocking time and all items being stocked at once. the only way you could expect that much money is if you ALWAYS used the quick stock option from the lobby. I have calculated the max Coins/Day per floor at around 45216. That number DOES assume that you have 3 dream job employees and the floor is level 10 and you're running at 100% efficiency, but it also accounts for item restocking times and no overlapping item restocks. So you're over by about 6500 coins a day per floor. Just so you're clear, I am in no way trying to criticize your efforts, I am merely trying to help. I am glad I'm not the only person obsessive enough to make spreadsheets for games.
In the old days, I had a Tiny Tower spreadsheet to keep track of dream jobs, floor stocking times per upgrade level, etc. With Tiny Tower Vegas, all the floors stock at the same rate level, and I'm pretty much able to upgrade every floor to level 8 or 9 immediately after construction completes, so I don't worry about that any more. I'm constantly cycling dream jobs through to generate chips, so my percentage discount is always fluctuating. So I don't really worry about coin generation rates any more. It took 32 hours to generate coins for my most recent floor, so I just let it go and farm chips all day. But I did start a spreadsheet to help my line up the costumes for each themed floor...
I thought I would share my gambling tips today, well mainly Blackjack tips. I find that Blackjack is the most reliable casino game to play. It requires a lot less luck than Slots and Poker. The payoffs are smaller, but there is a little trick we can use to edge out higher profits. Traditional Blackjack strategy is as follows: A soft hand means that you have an ace that is being counted as an 11. A hard hand is a hand without an ace or a hand where an ace is being counted as a 1. Dealer's up card is the dealer's card that you can see. That is the traditional recommended strategy for Blackjack, however the version of Blackjack in Tiny Tower Vegas is simplified and actually favors the player much more. This means that a few changes should be made to traditional Blackjack strategy. The biggest change in the TTV version of Blackjack is that the player always automatically wins when they hit 21, regardless of how many cards it takes. If you have 6 cards that add up to 21 you win, the dealer doesn't even get to reveal his cards. That means that you can't get a Push on 21. Because of this rule I suggest that you always HIT on Hard 12-16 no matter what the dealer is showing. In my experience the dealer has extraordinary luck at drawing low cards, therefore he rarely busts. Many times I have chosen to STAND on a Hard 16 while the dealer is showing a 6 only to have him draw an ace or a 2. Don't get me wrong, you will bust quite often when you HIT on a Hard 12-16, but every time you get a 21 you will win 80 bux, a win is only worth 30 bux. So in my mind each 21 win wipes away 1.66 losses. EDIT: Here is a perfect example of a hand that I just won. I started with a Hard 12 vs. the dealer showing a 6. Traditional strategy says to STAND, however I chose to hit and got a 2 and that put me at a Hard 14. Since I still hadn't reached a Hard 17-21 I chose to hit again and lo and behold I got a 7 and won 80 bux for a 21. The second tip is abusing an exploit that I have mentioned before. If you are lucky enough to get dealt a 21 you can double your winnings by furiously tapping where the STAND button will be BEFORE the win message appears. I find this easiest to do on Panda 21 and Jungle 21 because they have the biggest STAND buttons. If you're quick enough you will receive your 80 bux for winning and then the dealer will reveal his cards and possibly even HIT. If the dealer gets anything other than 21 you will then win another 80 bux, if the dealer got exactly 21 you'll still receive 15 bux for the Push. If you can consistently perform that trick every time you get a natural 21 you'll get 160 bux almost every time you get a natural 21. Once again in my mind a single natural 21 cancels out around 4.33 losing hands. Also, I can't prove it, but it seems like I have better luck when I play at a friend's casino instead of my own. However that could just be in my head. I consider a perfect round of Blackjack ending with me having won an average of 30 bux per chip (basically winning every single game). By using these tips I have a current running average of 24.71 bux per chip (that is tracking my winnings from 1451 chips played). My best run was winning 3000 bux with 100 chips (30 bux per chip average) and my worst run was a measly 675 bux won with 37 chips (18.24 bux per chip.) I averaged much much lower when I was tracking my Slots and Poker winnings, so I decided that I would focus solely on Blackjack. Those are my gambling tips, does anyone have any other gambling advice?
Is there any point keeping around lobbyists whose dream job is ??? I just keep dismissing those fools in hopes to get someone who has a dream job for a floor I have.
Nope, just keep telling those worthless ??? to take a hike and quit clogging up your lobby. I tell 'em to come back when they know where they want to work.
Making the switch to #TOUCHARCADE. Add me on Tiny Tower Vegas by tapping this link! http://sync.nimblebit.com/af/vegas/50K2 Code: 50K2 Looking for friends? Add me! Sorry #TOUCHARCADE1. I just wanna be number one for once.
Be forewarned: I wanted to get the gold roof, so I switched to #TOUCHARCADE for one event. I had to win about 64,000 bux to squeak into 30th place. Unless you have the chips to make a run like that, you'll only get 5 chips for participating--and no gold roof.
By the way, a 64,000 bux run would cost around 3200 chips. So unless you have a stockpile of around 3500-4000 chips I wouldn't bother going for the gold roof.
My stockpile was about 700 chips when the event started, so I must have earned a few thousand during the 3.5 days of the event. So you don't necessarily need to start with a large stockpile, but you should be prepared to actively play a LOT.
I switched for the last event to get a silver roof, don't have nearly the bankroll for a gold roof YET. I went with the group named #SAND.Something about that group when you type it and it looks like pound sand just made me laugh. The group finished in about number five and I finished in 11th in the group with only about 16,000 or so.
I always dress up my lv 9 DJs in costumes. That's part of the charm of having unique floors and bitizens for me. And I'm probably the only one doing this, but to make it even more similar to the original TT I'm upgrading my floors differently. Food floors generally had less stock, so those stay at the lower levels. Retail is next, then Entertainment, and Casino floors will have the most stock. There's no difference with the amount of stock individual floors have anymore, so this gives me some variety.
Starting over! NOOOOOOOO!!!!! KHAAAAAAAANNNNN!!!!! My phone failed during the iOS upgrade and I had to do a restore. That's fine, I did a backup before trying. Wait, WHERE IS MY TTV?!?!? Guess it didn't make it into the restore. Lesson learned: use the TTV cloud backup to sync before updating iOS. (I know, wrong thread, but my new friend code is 1KBF7)
Like you, I can't bear the thought of firing a level 9 DJer. It takes a long time to find one & but a fraction of a second, gambling, to lose one. Your themed plan for your tower sounds fascinating. Not something I'd do, but I certainly will enjoy visiting your tower! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I continue to be amazed at how much TIME you put into not only analyzing aspects of the game but explaining what you've learned/know in a clear, concise manner & incredible detail. Thanks still again! This a a "hole" I would expect to disappear in the update to the game. In TT, the devs eliminated switching out DJers for bux for many players were taking advantage of that feature to the detriment, I assume, of the IAPs. Given that one can do that in this game, I can only assume that it balances out with the gambling. My sympathies. I've seen this happen with versions of games which didn't survive an Apple update/subsequent update of game. I'm glad that NB is using a cloud backup for it not only saves the game but allows gameplay on more than one device (a feature much desired, never implemented, in previous games). Will send you a "gift" to get you started again. <--(Just sent gift & won 125 bux in Patty's Slots!)
I haven't started with the costumes yet, but will likely do that in a few days. My current priority for bux is getting all levels up to 10. Construction of new floors has ground to a crawl. It's now taking 32-36 hours to generate coins for building a new floor--and that doesn't count the wait time before it opens--and in that time I can generate more than the 5900 bux needed to immediately bring it up to level 10. Therefore, I am spending my "excess" bux to upgrade all existing floors; I now have 22 level 10s and 13 level 9s. So after that, I'll get costumes for my completed floors and then spend every other bux on elevator upgrades.
