I thought I'd give my two cents on the speed of progression in this game, as well as my chosen strategies and some tips.

So according to my last fireworks display, of which I haven't missed any, I have been playing for 11 days now. In those 11 days I have built my tower to floor 22 and have earned a total of 80,575 bux. I have not spent ANY money on IAPs. I feel that the progress moves at just the right speed for me. I actually have enough coins (3.030M) to build my next 2 floors with almost enough for a 3rd left over. But I have decided to stop building for now and I will explain why below.

I noticed early on that coins are produced mostly passively and at a pretty steady rate as long as you keep your floors stocked. However, chips are much more difficult to earn and almost impossible to gain passively (outside of tips from friends), and since bux are almost only gained through chips I decided that I was going to focus on gaining chips as fast as possible.

Since the majority of chips come from missions and delivering guests to fully stocked Casino floors I decided I would focus on those 2 areas. I was originally going to stop building after floor 12 when I realized that making my tower taller would only serve to make missions requiring me to find things harder. But then I learned that for every 20 floors you have (not counting the Lobby) you receive an additional chip for those finding missions. So for towers 3-18 floors you'll receive 1 chip, for towers 19-38 floors you'll receive 2 chips, for towers 39-58 floors you'll receive 3 chips, and so on. So I decided that I should build until at least floor 19 to double many of my mission rewards. That took care of focusing on chips from missions.

The other place to earn chips is by delivering guest to fully stocked Casino floors. In order to get the most out of this I wanted to make sure that I had the best ratio of Casinos to floors as possible. Luckily the repeating pattern of floors (Y, W, G, P, O) begins with a yellow Casino floor. The ratio of Casino floors to all floors is as follows:

Floor - Floor Color - % of floors that are casinos
    1 - Lobby - 0.0%
    2 - White - 0.0%*
    3 - Yellow - 50.0%
    4 - Green - 33.3%
    5 - Purple - 25.0%
    6 - Orange - 20.0%
    7 - Yellow - 33.3%
    8 - White - 28.5%
    9 - Green - 25.0%
    10 - Purple - 22.2%
    11 - Orange - 20.0%
    12 - Yellow - 27.3%
    13 - White - 25.0%
    14 - Green - 23.1%
    15 - Purple - 21.4%
    16 - Orange - 20.0%
    17 - Yellow - 25.0%
    18 - White - 23.5%
    19 - Green - 22.2%
    20 - Purple - 21.1%
    21 - Orange - 20.0%
    22 - Yellow - 23.8%
    23 - White - 22.7%

    * For some reason the game places your first Suite as floor 2 and your first Casino as floor 3, but after this a Casino will always arrive on floors ending with 2's or 7's (7, 12, 17, 22, etc.)

So as you can see on the list above, evrytime you build a new Casino it improves the ratio of Casino floors to total floors, thus hopefully slightly improving your chances that a guest will request to travel to a Casino floor (which should ALWAYS be fully stocked.) On the list I have bolded floors 19 and 22 to show that floor 19 is when mission rewards are improved, but floor 22 has better odds for Casino visitors. So this takes care of maximizing chips from Casinos.

The third way to reliably gain chips is by placing applicants in their dream jobs. You should ALWAYS place a bitizen in to their dream job even if you already have 3 level 9 gold star dream jobs on that floor and the applicant is a level 0. The reason for this is because a dream job bitizen's stats only give you a 0.5% (that is half of one percent) discount per stat point. So the difference between a level 9 dream job and a level 0 dream job is a lousy 4.5% discount which at the very most would save you 135 coins during a restock. The chip that you receive by hiring a dream job is so so so much more valuable.

Of course, all of these tips and strategies require that you actually actively play the game, so if you are simply planing on only checking in with the game once or twice a day for 5-10 minutes at a time, well then yes, your progress will be much much slower than mine.

Using those strategies I am able to gain about 100 chips an hour. I can then take those 100 chips and play Blackjack. Using a combination of suggested Blackjack play and abusing a double payout on natural 21 glitch I can win on average (I have actually been tracking my average) around 2650 bux. That's 2650 bux every 75-90 minutes that I am actively playing.

So what are my plans from here? Well I have already upgraded my elevator to 5.25 FPS (that is .25 per floor in my tower, you don't count the Lobby) and I plan to progressively upgrade all of my floors to level 10. My Suites are already level 10, then my Casinos, then everything else. Finally once my coins reach 28.5M I plan on building floors 23-37 simultaneously.

Why floor 42? Well because floor 42 is not only when the find me missions increase again to 3 chips each, but it is also a Casino floor so my Casino ratio will be up. So that is the next place I will stop and rest and farm chips until I have the coin to shoot to floor 62 in one shot, and so on.

That is how I have decided to play, but I am patient, and new floors are not my immediate goal. For others having the tallest tower may be their goal, or getting a fancy new lobby or rooftop. I don't expect everyone to adopt my play style, but it has been working for me.

If anyone has any alternate styles of game play or can think of any ways to help me improve upon my style please feel free to let me know. I hope this lengthy post will be of use to a few people.

I have just written an even longer and more in-depth post regarding my play style.

Thank you for appreciating the amount of time and effort that I put into those types of posts :D and yes, I had amazing teachers in school.

    TRB4,

Thanks for writing out that very nice post! It confirms some of the strategies I've been employing myself: chips are king, swap out dream jobbers always, always keep casinos stocked, etc.

One area where I've changed my strategy from yours is I build a floor as soon as possible. My thinking is that each additional floor will generate 36 coins/minute. Meaning, I'll be generating more coins sooner, rather than saving up all my coins and building 15 levels all at once.

I'll edit this later if I'm incorrect, but I've been playing for 22 days in a row now, and my tower is currently at 35 levels. I usually get about 3 hours of play in a day, 1 in the morning, 1 for lunch, and 1 in the evening. It may be an interesting experiment to see how your strategy does when you hit the 22 day mark.

Thanks again for the thoughtful post, and good luck!:)

    Excellent post TRB4!

I have noticed this during my play also, but I lack the ability to present it and explain it as well as you did. I am going to stop on floor 37 and just get the most out of it until I max my floor levels and upgrade the elevator enough to last me a while (currently at floor 35 and 5.00 fps).

The only problem is that certain missions can take up more time with that many floors. I can't imagine how it's like with 50+. I guess the coins do compebsate for that, but then you have to ask yourself is it more efficient to stay on low floors and complete them faster for less chips or get more floors and more chips per mission? Also the check in missions give 3 chips regardless iirc? So i guess 37 floors might just be a nice sweet spot.

Mojo, I think your strategy is sound and it is how I've been playing it too. I think it's just a matter of if you want to focus more on horizontal or vertical growth. Focusing on the horizontal might be slower but I like the feeling of completing a part then focusing on the next cluster of floors. Both are viable, just a matter of preference. As for which is more efficient I can't really say.

For the guys with 30 floors+, did you accomplish that without paying any real money? Im addicted to this game and play it a lot, but I am still on just floor 13 after close to two weeks of playing the game...

The only purchase I made was for the VIP package as a thanks to Nimblebit for a great game. No chips or bucks purchased for me.

I bought the same thing, absolutely love the game, but the VIP package is as far as I go. I just would like to get my tower up to your guys level.

I've bought the VIP package and I think 3 packs of 1000 chips until now iirc.
I wouldn't worry about it tbh, just play as much as you can. I was impatient at some points hence the purchases but I decided to slow it down and play it like I played TT before. I can't say that I won't do any IAPs again, but for now I'm good :) I also feel it takes a lot away from the player's club.

If you really can't wait and want to buy some (and support nimblebit) I'd say go for the chip packs. A 1000 pack got me anywhere from 15000 to 30000 bux (I bet 10 at a time), depending on luck.

At the end of the day you have to realize some people can invest more time into it and some less. I don't really treat this game as a competition, as everyone has different goals.

Also with the skill 9 dream job bitizens, is it just luck to find 3 for one floor? I see a lot of you guys have multiple floors with 3 gold stars by them.

Yup, just luck and a lot of time spent playing and waiting for new bitizens to arrive.

I find that there are a few advantages in NOT constructing new floors as soon as I have the coins to do so. For starters, every floor between my last Casino and my next Casino lowers my odds of guests heading to a Casino floor. Secondly, each additional floor increases the difficulty and time needed to finish a "Find" mission without increasing the reward until 18 floors have been built. Finally, and perhaps the biggest advantage in my opinion, I can constantly remove Construction Worker VIPs from my Lobby without thinking about it. When I was actively constructing floors I would hold on to those VIPs for hours while waiting for my coins to get high enough to build the floor. I would have up to 4 Construction Workers in my Lobby taking up space that I could have been using for finding dream jobs or other more useful VIPs.

So that is why I am hoarding my coins until I can just build 17 floors at once. Also, since I will begin construction on all 17 floors at the same time, my wait for all floors will only be as long as the longest timer. Another thing I am hoping to take advantage of is that once I begin building my 39th floor I will begin receiving 3 chips per mission, but any missions that I get during construction will only be on my existing floors. This means that for the first 10 hours I will be getting the 3 chip reward but I will only need to search 22 floors. Then it will increase by 1 floor every 30 minutes from then on. But for 10 hours I will have a pretty big advantage.

I love this idea! It would help weed out people who don't play or leechers who never tip back. I really hope NB improves the friend tipping UI.

I just had another idea, what if consecutive days of mutual tipping allowed for bigger tips. Like lets say that for every 5 consecutive days that you and a friend both tip each other your tip amount increases by 1. So if you and I had tipped each other for 5 days straight we could then start tipping each other 2 chips a day instead of 1. But if either person missed a day it would reset back to 1 chip a day and you would need to build it back up again. This would promote mutual tipping as it would only benefit people who tip back.

It's worth to note that even though you might have added someone to your friend list and tipped them they might not be able to tip back because their friends list is full (50 max). I know I'm at max because I've been adding random people that tipped me among others. Wish I could add more :/

    TRB4, I love your posts!

I have some confusion about the friends aspect of the game. Let's say, someone adds my code but I do not add theirs. Will they still appear in my friends' list since they added me? How does mutual friendship work, in other words?

Thanks for the responses. Also, how do you tip people? I got a few tips today from some people and I would like to tip them back. Do you automatically tip people when you play a game in their tower?

In Menu -> Bitizens, each Bitizen has a number of coins next to their skill proficiencies. What do those coins represent?

They represent how expensive it will be to hire them. The cost is determined by the bitizen's total level score.
