Well let me put it this way, when I accepted the game, paid money into the game, this was a valid, functioning part of the game. There was tons of time testing the game, this was part of it for how long? I played this game, and PF for a short while, because of NBs reputation. I stopped playing other types of games because if their shady, disgusting IAP practices, which was why this was so refreshing to see it here. Hey, drop the bonus to 1.5, I don't care if I only break even... As it stands, the only benefit is to encourage the purchase of IAP. Otherwise, how does it affect NB?
Dream Jobs were added to give a goal for this app, never to really earn bux from. I was surprised that the amount was 3 bux from the start for every dream job placed. I think it should be random between 1000-3000 coins and 1 bux.
I don't, at all. I don't care if it will influence them, I'm providing that as a solution for others in the same boat. I'm not whining, stamping my feet and crying about it. But I'm also not going to just sit back and accept the change, though, when I don't agree with it. I think I have, as well as others, made valid arguments toward the system. When I'm spoken to in the way that Dbhjed spoke to me, you can be darn sure I'm not going to just shrug my shoulders and accept it. If you want to disagree, fine, but do it as a grown up, not a acting like 12 year old protected behind a computer.
Unfortunately there is a bug in 1.2, where new bitizens only have dream jobs for the newly added floors. Will be submitting a fix tomorrow morning.
My comments were aimed at everyone complaining not just you. I should not have quoted you in the rant. I am still some how missing the point of lowering the reward from 3 to 1 is really that big of a game breaker. I think there in lies my problem. Just give it time I am sure you will fine a way to enjoy this app without needed the dream jobs as a source of income
I definitely don't see the problem either. Heck, I JUST upgraded my elevator for the first time at floor 59. I use the Bux to move in residents of which I have 100 but have a ton to spare via elevator tips, or find the bitizen tasks, etc. The only dream jobbers I REALLY tried to get were the ones on the low stock floors, ones that run out fastest. So I dunno what all this big blow up is. Games change features all the time in updates. So what if this one took away something? No need for anyone to get all riled up about it.
I'm definitely not going to update, at the very least until I get the last elevator. Here's why I like the 3 bux: 1. Spend a bux to move someone in. 2. You actually have their dream job. 3. But, it is being stocked. Now you can make a decision about whether to spend a bux or two to get it stocked so you can transfer people, possibly only making 1 bux or breaking even. This process is engaging. It enables you to actually sit and play for a while, like the game was at the beginning. I also really like being able to accelerate construction. Yes, I can check in every few hours and let the tower do its thing. But if I WANT to just sit and play, the 3 bux gamble and VIPs should allow me to do that. At 1 bux it's just not gonna work for extended play. I also thought it was pretty sneaky to put the bux reduction at the end of the list. If I hadn't scrolled down I woulda missed it. NEW FEATURE, NEW FEATURE (whisper) oh and we reduced dream jobs to 1 bux (/w) As someone said before it definitely seems to mostly be affecting the people that actually are spending the most time trying to play and enjoy the game.
Exactly this. It is worth noting that the only way to really profit on this 'bux farming' is well past the point that bux are effectively worthless. The part of the game that I enjoyed playing, which at my level is still a net loss (although only a tiny, tiny bit) has been removed from the game. I never actually earned any bux from 'bux farming'. What was the reason this was removed? Balance? Bull. Nobody was getting rich grinding away for a minute or two per BUX (and that level of 'profit' only when you've got over 40 stores in a 60+ floor tower, when bux are worth almost nothing).
I agree just one less reason to keep playing for me, not to worry I have been meaning to get the new Virtual Villagers anyway.
Does anyone know the five new floors? I know there's a Floral Studio, Rock Climbing, Recycling, and Automobile Dealership.
Yes, I think you are not quite grasping what several people have said in this thread. People aren't using the bux/dream jobs as a "source of income" (outside of maybe a tiny fraction--let's say 100 players worldwide?). The 3 bux bonus allows you to cycle in bitizens so that you can actually match them with their dream jobs and fill your businesses with happy workers. At 70+ floors or whatever, the Waldo game, ferrying bitizens up 70 floors really slowly -- these things become pretty tedious, and not that much fun. You also have to wait more than 24 hours to find out what new business you have constructed. So matching up dream jobs is just a fun thing to do. In terms of coins, or even speeding the game, the bux are not worth very much at all. For some players, apparently they still enjoy using the slowest elevator, so that's great for them. For many of the players that have spent the most time on the game so far, though, that gets boring. Yes, filling the businesses with dream jobbers *is* the goal, and without the bux bonus, achieving that goal becomes much much harder. And by harder I mean more boring--obviously there's nothing in the game that is difficult. The *complainers* are basically saying that the update makes the end-game very tedious, because there is nothing much to do, and the reward for doing it grows less and less and less. So they feel like they are basically being forced into quitting the game. Moose has it correct. While some are calling the bux farming an exploit, the fact is that it is also time-consuming and tedious. It's hard to think of it as "cheating" any more than playing 24 hours a day is "cheating" because it allows you to get more bux and more coins and advance faster than the other players. Since the game is not competitive, who cares? Eeen gives us the answer. They don't want players finishing the game too quickly, even if they have to offer a diminished experience, and a gruelingly boring endgame. I don't think that this is because they are trying to force people to buy IAP, but rather that they just don't want people who like the game a lot to finish the game and be done with it before they are able to roll out updates which perhaps extend the game, and keep people going. Unfortunately I suspect that it may have the opposite effect, and that people will simply stop playing rather than reach the end at all. Which is too bad, because the only people strongly affected by the change at this point are the ones who have been the most avid players and supporters of the game.
"Bux reward > cost of renting" seemed to me to be a simple mechanic to make it easier to fill your businesses with happy bitizens in the late stages of the game when the wait times for building grow very long. The priority of the player shifts from growth to finding happy bitizens. It's very discouraging to see a dev tell players that they are enjoying the game the wrong way, and that they are not playing as intended. Especially when, in this case, it is now clear that the "intended" gameplay is excruciatingly slow. Now TT will be slightly slower, but much more boring. Really weird decision by the developers. I don't see any downside to the current bux reward. A handful of players finish the game slightly faster than "intended." I don't see why it's preferable to have many players quit before ever reaching the end or ever filling all the businesses with happy bitizens, which will now be an incredibly difficult and boring chore. Difficult to see how nerfing the bux reward improves the game for players or for the developers.
Ok so AFTER I updated, I just got a message that said to hold off updated due to bugs in the latest update. From what I read earlier in the thread from eeen it's only affecting new citizen's (damn autocorrect...) dream jobs? I already updated so am I screwed?
Anyone who has waited in the line to go up the Empire State building knows that it feels like it only has a single set of elevators.
this means: dont update this version and wait for the next. and if you have: dont use bitizens with no dreamjobs
I do believe they are upgrading their elevators now so they are faster. But the building DOES have two sets of elevators. The first goes to floor 80 and then you exit and enter a separate set of elevators that operates from floor 80 to whatever floor the observatory deck was.
Ugh. Already updated. But I can tell you some of the new businesses: BBQ Place, Auto Dealer, Floral Studio, Rock Climbing, Recycling.
Recycling?! Can you really order and sell people giving back used containers lol Hey want to buy this can for a coin, I just got done drinking from it (that might work in states that have can deposits (here is looking at you NY))
