Yes, if we want to nitpick about the definitions of words, then all of the businesses have the same profit margins (for each good). That doesn't change the fact that people are trying to maximize profit/time, not profit relative to cost of goods. Businesses with longer stocking times are going to yield better profit/time, and that's probably what most people are referring to when they say "profitable". If you want to argue that the term only describes profit margins and people are using it incorrectly, it's still not going to change the fact that certain businesses are better depending on people's goals and playing schedules.
It's not profit/time, it's profit/effort. In the same time you'll make the same profit, regardless of what you stock. There's just less effort in making a profit with higher stocked items.
I have 250 achievement points...I feel so achieved! I wish there were achievement points related to Dream Jobs though....I'd totally clean up
My girlfriend is currently hooked on this game. I love the style of it and it's awesome that it's kind of like a Tamagotchi in some ways. It's free but I can honestly say that I would've bought it for a buck since it's given my girlfriend a lot of game time.
Suggestions and an Observation Hey, I've really enjoyed playing Tiny Tower. Its a new genre for me and I think I'm hooked, so thanks for that. Here's a couple of suggestions: - Maybe make the Hard Hat VIP able to "better" a floor without actually constructing it. Possibly something to do with paint, although I've never understood why that is a desirable option to have. - Ability to view a Bitizen's attributes while they are still in the elevator. With an option to dismiss them at that point. - An option to move Bitizens to a different apartment after they have moved in. I guess this would need a similar penalty to moving floors. - Basically an exchange system at the bank would be nice. A way to move coins to bux. - Ability to purchase marketing or advertising for your tower which would temporarily increase the rate of VIPs showing up. - The ability to configure the alarm when the iPod is off. This would be nice if you were only interested in being alerted if a VIP came through or something that specifically interested you. - Some of this stuff might change the nature of the game and would make it less of a casual game which has been implemented so well. So, I would suggest another form of currency beyond a coin or bux, a charge card. This would allow very limited breaks from current game play that would sometimes be very helpful. Like the moving of Bitizens or increasing the rate of VIPs, for example. The player would purchase a charge card and be able to alter 3-5 things before it needed to be replenished. And one observation; - I noticed that the guys with crowns always (the two times I noticed them) seem to go to the highest possible level and tip a bux. Anyway, thanks for the opportunity to get that off my chest. Chris
the charge card would be funny.. borrow bux or coins at 18% interest revolving credit. basically, you will have to sell off all your floors to pay off the interest. but eventually the bank will just foreclose and own the tower. but you can spend 1000 BUX ( to the lawyer ) to file for bankruptcy. Keeping the creditors off your back, and starting a new tower. and open new charge cards.. repeat.
the cult of the tiny tower! some players are really turning playing this game into a science. well done boys!
What? No. Basically, what the game did was not save my progress. The bitizens didn't move out. If no one else is getting this bug, then I guess it kust be a one-time thing because it didn't happen again. I was still pretty disappointed though. It's a great game, so I was willing to forgive it prettty quickly.
You're not very intelligent, including the people who want to "like" your sad attempt at understanding programming. "Set Automatically" for the clock is a checkable function on the phone that everyone has on by default. If you manually adjust your phone this setting is toggled off. Run the game at any time the setting is disabled: Bingo, cheat detected. The game could also just log time stamps and rollback changes once people decide to turn their phone back to real time. Games with cash shop advancement crutches like these are always bug ridden. But people like you play them so they make money. Games should never rely on a user-defined setting on hardware outside of the game.
But the iPad, for example, sometimes loses time and needs to be manually adjusted. In fact, I believe the wifi version - and I'd guess the iPod Touch - doesn't have an automatic time setting option.
My strategy is 2 floors of business, then one floor of residences. I wonder if I should evict Bitizens who aren't in their dream jobs, at the same time every time I make a new business I have at least one Bitizen that ends up in a dream job. Its a bit annoying. o_o What does everyone suggest?
No, phone adjustment detected. So, if you hose everyone's progress because they flew to another time zone, daylight's saving wasn't properly picked (rife with Apple's products), well, that makes you one douche of a game dev. One more time: if there's a user adjustable clock and you don't sync progress to an independent server, this will happen, period. And yet almost every single one of them (without an enforced online component) does, must be nice to be smarter than nearly every game developer that ever lived. ------------------------- In related (but only so much since very little of this has to do with clock manipulations), @eeenmachine, will there be any effort to clean up the leaderboards for Tiny Tower. As of this morning, at least the top 717 players are cheaters? Or should you (and by extension, us) just stop bothering with global leaderboards for your games?
One thing to keep in mind, even a 0 dream jobber is better than a 9 non dream jobber if you have the matching business.
Small time changes can't hurt the game much, if you go an hour back then waiting an hour will bring everything back to normal. They only way to force time to always be correct is to always force the device to connect to a server which is something we wanted to avoid with Pocket Frogs and Tiny Tower. As for the leaderboard, the only reason it exists in Tiny Tower is so we can show the tower height of your neighbors on the neighbor picker screen. I hope you learn to enjoy life a little more.
Can we please have slower initial acceleration on the top ranked elevator, please? It's getting v. hard to hit the right floor...
This is an odd workaround, but what I do if I need to move 1 floor is the following. Say the elevator is on F10 and I need to move it to F9, I quickly tap up then down which will land it on the correct floor, since tapping only down usually ends up sending it to F8.
