After some game sessions i must say that a wait button is needed. Too many times dying just for being surrounded by enemies with no chances of avoiding them.

Yup... and getting the wait item is too RNG based. That, and the situation you need it is pretty common.

I still like what Ravenous is doing here though, but it does need a bit of tweaking to balance things out to reduce how RNG affects your game.

After seeing this in the gameplay video https://youtu.be/Yp7K-KV7CJo?t=208 I don't think I can purchase the game without getting an update for a wait button. That situation just isn't fair. And not in the good "we're making this hard!" way, but in the bad design way. This game clearly needs a wait button.

^I think other options that can be done may include giving the skip item some charges, instead of being a one-use item. That item alone is very game changing to the point that having none at a lot of times means a restart.

Does it have mid-dungeon saves when quitting the app? Or at least when each floor is cleared?

This isn't really a roguelike but more or less a puzzle game. It's similar to Ending, 868-Hack, Hoplite etc. None of these games allowed you to wait a turn and they were all critically acclaimed. The no-wait button mechanic is deliberate and very common in game such as this. To remove it would change much of the strategy which is based on movement.

Hoplite, Zaga-33, 868 Hack, etc. all have an end goal to try to reach while getting as high a score as you can. Is this endless or does it have an end?

    That's so upsetting to hear...

I like to think you and I are pretty close to the same range when it comes to what we enjoy in games and what we experience while playing...

Guess I'll find out later... Already bought it but can't play til I get home. Was checking opinions cause I'm anxious... But grrrrr

I quite enjoy the simplicity of it. It is perfect for quick games.

i've only recently picked up desktop dungeons and at the moment i'm loving it, possibly the best £7.99 i've spent on an ipad game yet, however, i'm a sucker for a good rogue and i'll possibly shell out for this next week, it's got to be said tho, that i do like my *wait* button and may miss it a bit but looks good n i'm willing to bite

Hmmm... Recently, the only RL I've played with a wait button are Sproggiwood and Cardinal Quest 2.

I think I may be more familiar with not having one... =o/

That's unfortunate if it is more puzzle and less rogue. I didn't enjoy the games you listed very much at all. I just want a rogue!

^ you're missing Brogue and FTL from your collection ;) I assume you have an iPad as you've got DD in there

Pixel heroes byte and magic is also a party based RL that's pretty decent and often gets forgotten. The new update with portrait mode was a nice addition
