I've been burnt dozens of times and gained on freebies and sales probably way more than that --- so I generally don't get too upset about it. But I didn't realize that the devs had promoted $2.99 as a lunch sale price. That does make a difference and can make for some bad feelings towards a developer. That said I think this game was worth $2.99. I'd be more upset if I actually did feel like I overpaid for it.
The veteran iOS gamer will of course realize that a game with iAP that does well enough will probably drop to free sometime in the future.
People have a right to change their minds. Maybe they really intended to raise the price instead of dropping it, but then they realized it was better to drop it to .99 for 1 day to see what happens. Tomorrow they may decide to keep it at .99. Who knows? It's just human nature.
Sale was less than 6 hours. The announcement was made at a bit past midnight (Sydney, Australia time), by the time I tried to purchase it at 5.45am, the app was being modified. By 6.30am, it was back up to $2.99. Shortest "day sale" I have ever seen!
I see the $.99 sale on the mobile app store. I'll have to look into this one. Anyone try this on iPad? How does it look/play in 2x mode?
I agree with the above. It'll be a sad day when misleading your customers about "introductory" prices become the norm for App Store marketing.
Stuff Happens I can sympathize with those who might feel "cheated", but the fact of the matter is that this game is easily worth $3 ... I mean just because it is on a small screen doesn't make it any less of a fun game. I mean, look at Nintendo DS games...easily $25+ on average. This game supplies the player with just as much fun and game time as a LOT of those produced for the DS. I know some feel the developers were being dishonest, but nothing is further from the truth. It is business, there are employees that work at Simutronics, just like there are employees that work at your place of employment. These people want the company they work for to succeed so they can continue to work, doing something they love, at a company as awesome as Simutronics, who desires nothing less than to make great games. That means decisions have to be made that can best not only please the customer and get the game into the hands of as many people as possible (so they too can enjoy a great game), but to also bring in enough revenue to keep the company going and everyone of the companies hard working employees employed (so we can they can all continue to make great games). As I said earlier, I can sympathize with those who feel cheated, and so can those pulling the strings at Simutronics, hence the two FREE IAPs being offered (well, one now, the other soon). These IAPs, as nsxdavid had mentioned earlier were not slated to be free, but since he and the rest of the employees at Simutronics do care about those who thankfully and graciously buy our games (regardless of it's price) want to give something back...these free IAPs are a "thank you" to those who did buy the game. Simutronics is a business, but unlike a lot of others they DO care about their customers and nsxdavid will do what he can to keep both his customers and his employees happy...because he is just that kinda guy. And thank you to everyone who has bought the game. We have a lot of other Tiny Heroes enjoyment coming your way as soon as possible.
Since the sale lasted very short, I do believe that it is a launch party sale. It reminds me of the super quick sale of Papa Sangre (never go on sale afterwards). I just hope that you don't make this game free in the short period just because you want to boost new IAP, if it happens then you'll definitely betray us!!
