Companions was a deep game with a decent story..but the controls and some mechanics made me rage!! Here is hoping that this game is more..accessible. /Buys
I played the first 2 levels and this game is great. Anyone who is a fan of turn based strategy games owes it to themselves to pick this one up. A steal at 99¢.
ah, finally one who thinks like we do. again: the iAP's aren't at the least necessary. you can buy them, if you like to be stronger right from the beginning of a campaign. or say, you like to play hard/hordes and find it too tough, buy some stuff and it'll be easier. Thanks Josh! Comes with the next update! Late February/Early March! Ok, here's some help. The enemies on the first map are mostly "Pig Trolls". These guys are "melee units". You can counter them best by using "ranged units" (Axe Throwers) or, second best, your own "melee units" (Berserkers). Just make sure you are standing on good terrain, too and if possible in command range (the yellow/golden tiles when you select one of your heroes) of your hero. The enemy heroes are both "Troll Mages" (ranged units). Counter them with heavy units (Minos or Bull Riders) or your own ranged units. Make sure you kill them after you finished off all their units, because you want those XP. Always make sure your heroes have enough hitpoints. Every three round they can perform "First Aid" (the red cross) and heal themselves by 3 HP. Units standing beside their commanding hero get 2HP at the start of each round. This is perhaps one very important (and fun) point: try to eliminate the enemy heroes at the end. If you kill a hero, all his units will die, too, but you won't get the XP for them. (XP for heroes = 300; XP for units = 50) If you need any more help or tips, please ask! please, tell me if you like this one better! (it's a totally different game of course, but we need input! also, to all of you: check the options! you can always play without animation or battles (although I like them ) + quick combat. keep the coments coming and most importantly: have fun!

Time of Heroes could use some more bells and whistles to streamline the flow of battle in updates, but its sheer level of depth and challenge make this an absolutely unmissable title for genre fans."- TOUCHARCADE REVIEW (****): "Time of Heroes nails the most important elements of a good strategy game. When you combine the large amount of depth on the gameplay side with a good narrative tale and a fairly decent control scheme, Time of Heroes is well worth a recommendation for any fan of strategic turn-based games."- ARCADELIFE REVIEW (82/100): "As a complete package, Time of Heroes works incredibly well. The land and characters have their own lore and the story, although fairly simple, provides plenty of believable motivation."A happy customer:- I can't believe there are no reviews for this app! It is AWESOME! I'm having as much fun as the kids. Great illustrations, story and animation. So much to do besides the story. Please keep making more apps! This is the kind of app that everyone should mimic. I bought all of your other apps and am thrilled with them as well. :) △▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△▽△ If you run into problems, whether technical or gameplay problems: CONTACT US! Please note: the item iAP's are purely optional. You don't need them to complete the game. I played the game on "hard/hordes" without using any of them! It's more like a paid "cheat mode". --------------------------------------------------------------- The game is universal and saves game progress in the iCloud. Thus players can play the game on different devices, be it with the iPad on the sofa or on the road with their iPod/iPhone, without starting a new game every time they switch devices. Time of Heroes is a 3D turn-based strategy game with heavy roleplaying elements, which, thanks to the groundbreaking combat system, easy accessibility and modern graphics, enables the player to immerse himself for many hours in the fantasy world of Altland. --------------------------------------------------------------- Under the leadership of prince Minos humans land on a foreign coast in search of a new home. A short while after going on shore, they realize that the land holds many dangers, but also new hopes and new allies. Their old home was engulfed by ice and cold and the old king Asterios ordered his son Minos and the majority of the people to sail southward. 400 years before the happenings in Companions (available for iPad) the northern people reach the coast of Altland. Immediately after the landing they make acquaintance with the inhabitants of the north coast and those strange beings have just one thing in mind: eat all the intruders. In the course of their adventures the heroes of the northern people meet the mad elf Shoto Gar and his ally, the legendary dwarven trapper, Ung Bulmitz. These two wrongdoers control the lower creatures of the north and without hesitation try to enslave or destroy the newcomers. Since thousands of years Altland is the scene of a terrible war, which brought the old races of the continent, the dwarves and elves, to near extinction. The minions of the dark god Detexx, undead, demons and other horrible creatures turn out to be the biggest threat the humans have ever faced. Prince Minos is quick to realize that the hordes of nether may only be defeated by joining forces with dwarves and elves of Altland. --------------------------------------------------------------- The first chapter of Time of Heroes The Arrival covers the arrival of the northern humans in Altland and the battles that followed shortly thereafter. In the near future the second chapter Time of Heroes The Prophet's Revenge will be released, where players can seamlessly continue their adventures. GoofyJmaster. These guys have been active and attentive on the forums, and I loved companions. I also viscerally hate IAP, but I think the smuttlewerk devs get that, and have designed the game balance appropriately. Frankly, if they just put in an IAP tip jar, that did *nothing* to the game, I'd probably use it. Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #59 Amenbrother, Jan 19, 2012 .... I so dont mind this kind of IAP actually I am all for it, if I love a game and want to get some extra fun features then awesome! If I want to just play through and not buy IAP then I can do that to. It's a good system if you ask me, especially when the game is a paid game. I hate playing free games then hitting a pay to play wall which this game is most definately not! Amenbrother Well-Known Member Jun 24, 2011 6,659 7 38 #60 Amenbrother, Jan 19, 2012 ... I can see if this was free and had a pay to play wall then yes they need to disclose it, but dang you dont need them at all to finish the game so I dont have any problems with this. You might want to start supporting devs who like here have a paid game and have some cosmetic IAP or else everything will turn to freemium garbage IMO. (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
