Online Game Night! suggestion for Monday night We are trying to gather people for a Game Night! with the first one being this coming Monday, July 11, 2011 from 7:00 pm to 1:00 am (so we also give some folks in Europe and Asia to join too). For the first time we are suggesting that people play Online Multiplayer games of Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, and Cargo Runners (we are devs too with our own iOS board game). If you can make it, great! Otherwise we hope to hold more of these, so please join us when you have a chance. We are looking for a bunch of players like us who want to play others who are like-minded with iOS Board Games [Link to Game Night! here] Jeff
I ended up picking this up last night since I finished up a few games to make space from backlog. Ended up loving this game from the get-go. I have played several ai games on all boards since, and I think I'm ready for multiplayer now. I just want to confirm is it asynchronous?
I honestly do not know as every time I played online I ended up doing the full game ... I should pick it up again as it is a while since I have played (but now puerto rico is in the way)
It's not, actually. If you're in a game with other humans, you'll be replaced by a bot if you take more than a few minutes between turns. It's live multiplayer, in other words. However, you can set up games versus the AI and play at your own pace.
Good to know. Thanks. Do you think it would possibly be implemented as a future update, maybe when OS5 drops? That would be sweet! I'm loving the original map the most I must say. Pretty straight forward...
It's not asynchronous and last I'd heard there were no plans to add it - it was a design decision. Of course anything is subject to change, but I'd suggest trying the online as is, don't plan to try to play 10 times a day every day - just play when you do have time to play a whole game - and you'll find that it's a very enjoyable online experience.
An interview on BGG: Source: http://boardgamegeek.com/blogpost/3711/interview-days-of-wonder Seeing as P&P was not going to happen as per the devs and now is part of the game, async is very possible.
I hope so along with the achievements they may implement per the article. Especially asynchronous for Small World. The additional expansions would be very welcomed too...
I would take the reverse cause I really don't think this game works at all on a small screen like iPhone -- no offense meant.
There are plenty of board games that work just fine on the iphone. I don't think it would be a problem to scale the interface down. What would really be nice if the developers came to their sense and added asynchronous multiplayer. The fact that they left it out is totally ridiculous. I've only had time to play this game twice since I bought it because of no async support.
If this were Universal with asynchronous multiplayer (ala Carc and Ascension), I'd be playing this like mad. I guess they already got my money, so who cares, right?
TtR has been available on Mac for years. As far as iPhone ... sorry, not seeing it. All of the pinching, zooming, and panning around that would be required would reduce the fun factor by at least 90 percent. Games come in different sizes. Not all of those sizes fit tiny screens.
help please. I really like to buy the other maps but when i press the buy button nothing happens !!?? How do I buy the other maps, thanks Sorry for my english
Is there, any prospect at all of asynchronous mutiplayer with this game? i cant believe there is no async, just tried to start a game with a friend in Singapore, thinking we could play over the course of a few days. I was utterly shocked when I discovered this was not possible!
Days of Wonder has their own view of how things should work, and it's not the Ascension/Carcassonne view, unfortunately. As I've said before, this game would be right up there with Ascension and Carc (meaning, I would play daily) if it had those basic features (Universal and asynchronous play.)
It may be possible soon after all. Apparently they are adding async to the iPhone version at least: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?p=2120080#post2120080
Some may find boardgames working on 3.5" screen, but yet to find one for old man like me. Well, I really don't get what the developer is thinking -- async play for iPhone version but not all the maps, while iPad has the extra map but no async...
