I can't help but kind of feel like a lot of the love this game is getting is pure hype.
I don't do hype. If this game was from an unknown Dev instead of these guys, i imagine it would be struggling to get any positive comments. (Or maybe it's just not for me, and it really is an awesome game. Who knows?)

Great game - not usually a fan of match games but managed to score 3,294 so far! :)

You already made your opinion known. Now it just feels like you're trying to pick a fight. We know you don't like this game, so why continue posting in the thread?

Pick a fight? I've been cordial and mature.

Isn't the thread to discuss the game?
    Is only one opinion welcome?

Your opinion has been voiced. Now stop beating the dead horse. If you don't like this game, leave the thread.

Oh please. Try to not be so dramatic. Discussing the game is fine, but there are hundreds of games people love that I don't enjoy, and I don't feel the need to go into those threads and tell those people that they don't actually enjoy the game they say they enjoy, but rather they are merely falling for hype. I mean, if that's not an inflammatory statement, I don't know what is.

The game has been universally praised across the internet, and is currently #3 overall in the charts. The kind of numbers needed to get to that position far outnumber the amount of people who even know who these developers are. So, saying that this game is only being praised because of who made it is not very accurate. On a personal level, I haven't enjoyed a game this much in a very long time, and I could give two shits about who made it.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is, what do you hope to accomplish by bashing the design and claiming this game is nothing but hype? Were you planning to actually explain what it is you don't like about it, as in provide actual useful feedback, or were you hoping to just spout criticism and if anybody challenges it pull out the "oh so now we can't have opinions" card?

I don't want to start anything either, but I don't really see how this game got "hype". I honestly didn't hear anything about the game until it was released. Puzzlejuice was a fun game and one of my favorites as far as spelling games go, but I certainly wouldn't say it was a gigantic hit (as far as I know it wasn't).

Anyway, for what it's worth, I wasn't all that like "wow" I must get that game but after reading so many opinions here and reviews across the Internet (TBH, I trust my fellow members here more), I decided to give it a try.

And I've got to say, I'm in 100% agreement with the majority of the posters here. It's fabulous, addictive and quite well presented. In fact, I'd say Puzzlejuice was not a bug-free experience (playing on my old 3GS, which at the time was still relevant, it didn't run all that well for the genre of game it was). I still really enjoyed that game, but this is a million times better in terms of gameplay experience.

So I really don't think it's so much hype as it is people just really getting into the game and spreading the word. I would still classify the devs as "indie" and don't think there were crowds waiting with anticipation for their next release. It's just good stuff and, yes, it's already vaulted towards the top of the paid charts.

But hype? At least, not IMO.

Certainly everyone is entitled to their own opinion of the game on its merits and I don't discount the fact that there will be some people that don't like the game. I just disagree that the game is just an overhyped game.

Flappy Bird? That is an overhyped game (despite, admittedly, still being somewhat addictive).

Fair enough, though it was your post about this just being hype which I was questioning the motive of. Anyway, was just sharing my, er, opinion, I guess :)

The screen shots looks rather questionable at first, but after seeing so much praise, I had to get it. I have to say since I downloaded it, I've already played eight games plus the tutorial. This is waaaay to addictive.

Haha, your criticism was far from detailed! You said they could have made the UI and design better and that it is boring.

Great criticism there! That's like saying To a director that his film is rubbish, so he asks you to help him improve it. Your reply... Just make it better!

    My strategy is
to keep my biggest tile in one of the corners. I've come really close to a 384 so many times but I made some dumb moves

My strategy too, and I made a 384 (died shortly after).
Highest score of 7788 so far.

Yes, you can call this an opinion (a lazy one at that) but this is far from a critique!!! You state that the UI is boring drab and lazy? For me simplicity is key in a UI! Surely the game is where you are to get your entertainment from but hey, each to his own.

But even better than this! You boldly state that this lazily designed game missed what was an opportunity to create something elegant and modern!!!!!

I'm waiting on baited breath, I'm waiting for the genius that precedes this comment, the lightbulb moment where you enlighten us as to what it is that they could not do. In how you would have made it elegant and modern.

But oh, no real, constructive opinion. Just puffs of smoke.
