Essentially I'd have to say there is no difference at all other than the free version has in game credits to play it and credits are earned through opt in videos. Opt in ones, not pop up or forced or any of that stuff. The gameplay is exactly the same and there's no added energy system or paywall or anything of that type that I've come across anyway. It's extremely fair, I mean I don't even feel right saying that it's fair because it's so fair (if you know what I mean) and offers some degree of monetisation for the developer and also gives everybody the best version of this genre/category/type/whole thing for free just by watching a few videos for in game credits to play it, simple as. Personally, I'd still say get the paid one to anyone who hasn't gotten it (why haven't you, just get it) but if someone wanted to check it out to see if it lives up to the awards and the hype (and it certainly does) before purchasing the paid one, absolutely, do, but you know as easy as it is to watch a video, get some credits and play the game, it's so much better to just pay the two bucks and enjoy it without interruption (albeit opt in interruption) that way so if you do enjoy it after checking it out the free way, do. One tends to become quite addicted to it so I think most will feel compelled (in a good way) to get the paid one. (PS. Mess, second paragraph was just a general direction, not at you directly obviously enough)
Yup tried the free version, it's the same mechanics. Rather surprised to see it under "Best new games" in iTunes.
Thanks for the info guys - I bought the game when it came out, was just wondering what they did to make it free Also will help out anyone else checking out this thread
This is strange. After updating, game tries to start then crashes out. Then I double click to kill apps and I see the the 3's Swipe Screen from a previous game. I tap it and it goes away. Nothing. I'm still dead in the water since the update.
Like other posters, the game won't open since the update - nothing but a blank screen or crash. Does anyone know if the developer is working on this issue?
I just played my first game last night since the update on the IP6, no issues at all. Maybe try reinstalling or hard reboot of device? I hard reboot mine every few days so it has definitely been done since the update was installed (I installed it when it was released, just don't play the game very often).
I've Tweeted the developer a few times to no avail. I'm assuming they don't care? Maybe not widespread. I've tried powering down my phone but that doesn't help. Don't really want to delete and reinstall and lose my high scores. May have to eventually if it doesn't get fixed.
Don't hold me to it, but I think your high scores are saved in iCloud or Gamecentre, because they sync between my iPad and iPhone - so you shouldn't lose them if you reinstall.
Gah!! I scored my best ever score the other day - 177,642 with a highest tile of 3072. Now when the new update has just come in, I see there was a bug which stopped the higher numbed tiles from spawning. Obviously this made the game much easier and let me get a score I could never normally get. I'm assuming the only way to get rid of this unbeatable score would be to uninstall it and remove it from game centre, thereby removing all of my scores.
Honestly I could never get a good score in Threes! My highest was 417... So I just made a slightly easier version myself https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/high-fives-puzzle-slider-game/id1082240901?ls=1&mt=8
A video of me getting the 3072 card https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4dOmVOL4o0 I have reached the 3072 card several times, and I got a full recording of one of my games. Check it out, it might be helpful!
Yeah dude, i have been playing this game almost since its launch for at least 3 hours every day! I too would like to know if there is some sort of help available.
So after 2+ years, I have finally got a 1536! 666,33 is now my high score. I know there's two more to go, but it's been annoying me that I hadn't beaten my high score for over a year!!
