Didn't realize that Threes was actually the original concept. Been playing 2048 and its pretty addicting. Just bought Threes and going to try it out. Puzzlejuice was really good so I'm assuming this will be good as well.
There you go, another one who, as me, bought Threes! After playing a clone (in my case it was 1024). Maybe a lite version which allows you to reach 48-96 only? I think most of reach those ones easily...
I bought Threes! after playing 1024 as well. As for a lite version, I think a better restriction would be a timer to regen a limited number of moves available (like Triple Town). That or just put ads.
There's a lite version? What is everyone talking about. Best thing I like about Threes! than 2048 is the art style and music. I do like how 2048 swipes are super fast though.
I don't fully understand this. Could someone explain it in a little more detail? For X times it is all moves followed by all placements. That's every possibly combination for a single move. What does it mean to do that 2 times or 3 times? If it's already all combinations it doesn't make sense to do it multiple times. But if it's not already all combinations then I'm not understanding something. Sorry for being dumb.
I've now told 3 people who had 2048 about threes and tried to push them in the right direction. I was banned from Gamecenter for my hacking which I openly admitted was for educational purposes only. I still love this game enough to convince others to buy it tho. What a game you guys made! If the devs read this please unban me and pm me! Scorpion_008 on GC.
So I finally tried 2048 to see what all the fuss was about (I bought Threes! the week it was released, and it's still on my IPhone & IPad), and wow, what a horrible excuse for a clone. The game is a clear rip-off, with no charm, polish, or soul. Not to mention it seems to miss the whole point of Threes!, and is designed like a Threes for Idiots! It's so bad, it makes me long for the days when Flappy Bird was the #1 free app.
Yep. What helped me, though I'm still not up there with the best players by a long shot (best is something like 21,000) is to force myself to work for the top tile in a corner (usually top/left) and keep the whole left column with tiles in decreasing value from the highest in the top left corner. Oh, I'll open up a spot at the bottom from time to time when I merge upwards, but except in absolute desperation, I don't drag to the right when it would move that left column to the right. So often I felt I needed to, but actually didn't. My scores have been higher, overall, ever since. This helped a lot: http://www.macworld.com/article/2110001/get-past-the-384-tile-in-threes-or-die-trying.html
Make every possible move for the player. For each of the resulting board positions, place a new card in every possible way. For each of the resulting positions, make every possible move for the player. And so on. (of course this is explained in breadth-first terms, but the algorithm actually does it depth-first).
Finally captured the creation of Terrence on video!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvUSOMsVbk0 Here's how the game ended a few minutes later. Catching up to you, Nicola!
