Spoiler I am of the firm opinion that humans are excellent at recognizing patterns (even when there are none). This is why I do my very best to make the data we gather visually appealing. In the last hours, I did another data-representation which I would now like to explain so that you understand what you are looking at and can understand/process it in your brains. I previously inserted speculative stack-cutting points into the sequences. There are a lot of them and the task at hand is now to figure out which ones are real. To that end, I wanted to list interesting chunks (parts of a sequence between two of these speculative cutting points). For me, a chunk is interesting if: -it contains at least one 1 (and 2, necessarily) -it is shorter than 20 cards (I suspect that anything above that is the result of a typo) -it is longer than 2 cards I tinkered long enough to eliminate duplicate chunks (when we disregard the order of the cards in the chunk) and count their number of occurrences. This is what you can now look at below the sequences in the formatted output. There are however problems with this representation. Depending on the order of 1s and 2s in the original sequences the number of white cards in the chunks fluctuates (but in theory, it should only decrease from its intended value). Also, again depending on the order of 1s and 2s in the original sequence, true stacks can fragment into multiple chunks as follows: sequence: 1,1,3,2,3,2,1,3,2,2,3,1 chunks: (1,1,2,2,3,3)x1, (1,2,3)x2 (because there is a splitting point after the 2nd 2 since there have been an equal number of 1s and 2s found) My hope was the longer chunks with the correct number of 1s, 2s and white cards would emerge due to their higher occurrence. I now think that we need more data to see those patterns emerge. Could you be more specific?
After 6144 Spoiler you get a 12288. The card looks nearly identical to a 6144. The highest card I have made is a 98304. It looks again, very similar but the point keep going up.
Can you explain a bit more? Spoiler Is there a new name for the card? The current font size can only accommodate 4 digits, so I can't see how 12288 fits in the card. Is the game actually coded for a 12288 tile card? I am asking because I recall a long time someone mentioned that the maximum tile card is 6144. It is not possible to get a higher tile card by normal means.
Spoiler The digits as you know them are gone. The graphics of the 6144 card get kept for all cards after 6144. The 6144 text is removed and for a 12288 card, for example, the 6144 is replaced with a big 1. The 98304 card is the graphics of the same card with a big 4. I haven't tried higher.
No, there is even an achievement for that. Here is proof that it is legit: Spoiler http://imgur.com/e70kPYY This spoiler shows the 6144 tile, so to protect those who want to see it for themselves it's a spoiler.
So, in the next update, the white cards>3 will be announced with a "+". Cool, not sure it'll change a lot in the late game though.
Oh, it will. Knowing its not a 3 is really important, if you're assuming now that white cards are 3s.
Need more data! I would like to repeat my previous call for more data and to inform you about recent improvements I made to the formatted output. The most obvious change is the addition of a side bar for quick navigation to the important parts of the site since the sequences are starting to take up quite a lot of space. First and foremost are now acknowledgements to the generous individuals who provided any number of sequences. This whole endeavor could not progress without your time and effort. I cannot thank you enough. If you wish to change your name or link to your Twitter/Blog or whatever, feel free to PM me and I will change your entry. Next are the chunks which I explained earlier. I plan to tweak the logic behind them a bit tomorrow to reduce the number of marks in the sequences. Lastly, if you get some idea for an analysis of the sequences that you would like to test but do not have the time/skills to modify the Python script yourself, shoot me a PM in which you explain your idea and I will implement it and post the results. I really enjoy getting input and bouncing ideas around. And finally: send any data you have. Do not hold back. I have approximately 1 minute of manual interaction with a sequence (copy&paste, remove spaces from the TA forum software, correct typos). Everything else is done by the script and it really doesn't care if it's crunching through 10 or 100 sequences.
I am really sorry and would like to help more but I recently got separated from my iDevice. Sorry. Off topic, Go Canada! (Olympics)
Wow, what an amazingly simple concept but very difficult to master and get high scores. Fun either way though, either playing for the leaderboards or just for fun, this game is for everyone and exactly what a mobile game on the iPhone should be like. IMHO I prefer playing games such as Infinity Blade or other graphically impressive mmos like KOTOR on my iPad. So addictive and worth every penny, highly recommend to anyone who plays ios games!!!
Nice! I still have only snagged 1 768 (I didn't actually write snagged, autocorrect changed it to that but it fitted so I kept it, autocorrect win?)
One thing I really like about the game is that after making a mistake move or getting a row of unwanted cards I dont feel that frustrated. I dont play this kinda games very often, but when I do I get frustrated a lot and want to smash my device. So big thanks to the developers for the great design in every areas, and let the hunt for 768 continue!
If I mess up at the start then it's ok cos it's usually easy to recover from and sometimes works in your favour, but when it's near the end of a really good game I could cry lol.
Guys something awful has happened, I went to play a game today and was greeted with the tutorial instead of the board with my highest tiles on, thought don't panic, played tutorial , anyway long story short all my data has gone. And game is like a total fresh install despite it not being one. All my preview highscore boards are gone. Last game I played was last nights 29k one, no one has touched my iPad, nothing has been downloaded, nothing has been deleted, nothin has been updated, it's not been touched so I have no idea what's happened but I'm not happy. I ean I know it's just a game blah blah but it feels like my hard work has gone. If anyone has any ideas on how to fix please tell me. I'm using a mini on current iOS.
Same here, was greeted with tutorial. However after the tutorial all of my data remained as before. Sorry Cloud.
I'm sorry to hear that. The silver lining is that your Game Center records look like they have endured: Also, the developers seem to follow this thread closely, so they should also hear about this in time. In my continuing endeavor to understand the card draw algorithm, I'd like to issue a challenge to everyone interested. This will be far less time-consuming than recording entire games and I expect nobody to complete this challenge anyway. If however someone does complete it, then I have to go back to the drawing board so to speak. Here goes: Spoiler I challenge you to post a screenshot of a Threes game in which the difference between the number of 1s and 2s on the board is greater than 4. Spoiler Here are some examples: - on the board are four 1s. Nope, 4-0=4 is not greater than 4. - on the board are five 2s and one 1. Nope, 5-1=4 is also not greater than 4. - on the board are six 1s and one 1. Yup, now 6-1=5 and 5>4. You complete the challenge. I should point out that the tutorial is excluded from this challenge as well as manipulated games (although I can't check that, so please be honest). Now go on, prove me wrong.
This may sound odd but I am actually worried that this game is TOO addictive. As in, 'missing time' spells. We need some kind of support group for Threes! Junkies. I am... Not kidding.
