Someone said earlier that it lowers the frame rate used. Don't know if that's true, or how well it works.

Yea, the game doesn't run as smoothly. The difference is barely noticeable to the human eye tho lol!

Fantastic game, but one big annoyance: where is the switch to turn of those kindergarden voiceovers? They make me crazy, especially when they come at every single turn.
I'd even pay for that option per IAP to be able to switch them off.

The "Sound Effects" setting on the Options menu seems to turn off the voices.

Personally I quite like the voices.

Amazing game, ridiculously addictive but... try as I may, I cannot get past my high score of 3,400. I seem to have plateaued (sp?!) already, though I can see other people are achieving some amazing scores...

    Any hints and tips?

I wonder if this game would be more skill based if we could see the incoming numbers on each edge?

Because you need 15 minutes per move, you hear them less often.

Yeah, but after an hour, they're distracting. Like standing in the middle of a bunch of kids. And it seems that the sound effects turn of all sounds, except the music? But thanks, I try that again.

As someone who had been obssessed with Triple Town for a while, Threes totally bowled me over. This is one of the most addictive iOS games I've played in a long while. I saw Rich (hey old friend) grouping this under number game as opposed to a word game, well it's not. Threes is a puzzle game in the same vein as Triple Town, Elenints and the like. If you've liked one of those games, give Threes a try. (Current score 7,287)

Hey! I'm part of the team and I thought I'd answer some piling up questions. Thanks for the love, everyone. It means a lot to us.

First off, great tips Mr_Bez all of those will help new players a ton I think. Thanks for posting them! If anyone missed them, they're here in this post: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=3125239&postcount=177

Conserve Battery cuts the framerate in half. The game normally runs at 60fps but that tends to eat battery if you play for hours at a time, so we cut that in half to conserve as much as possible without sacrificing the game's animation too much.

Currently there is no high score ceiling due to the white spawns being > 3 on occasion. Though, honestly. If someone legitimately gets over 50million points without the assistance of a computer. I'd probably give them $1000.

And finally, go buy Eliss Infinity! Especially if you have an iPad. It's one of the best games to come out on the iPad in the last year, easily. The infinite mode is super addicting and a huge challenge. I've been playing to keep myself busy during release. http://toucheliss.com

The new tile comes in opposite from the direction you're swiping. So if you swipe up, the new tile will come in from the bottom. You don't know which exact tile, though, unless there's only one option.

Thanks for the tips, I've gotten into the 3,000 now.

My sound has totally gone now and rebooting the app doesn't bring it back.

Delete, reboot, reinstall? Maybe that helps.

    Eliminating screenshots of prior scores?

Anyway to get rid of the screenshots of the various high scoring games. I would think it is starting to take up a lot of memory on my iPad?

I doubt it. All they've got to store is 16 ordered characters. There are only 13 possibilities for each one so they could easily use 16 bytes for each game and hold 65,536 games in 1 MB.

I suspect they use a little more space for each game, but it only seems to remember your top 16 games anyway so I wouldn't worry about running out of space. :)
