Sweet explanation. That's why I'm more than happy to stick to this platform and will be in it for the long run, shortcomings or not. And with every new generation of iPhone we get, we will continue to enjoy our beloved App Store as it also continues to get bigger.

All android phones have a memory card slot to add more storage though. I knew the Android market wouldn't do well because of different specs of each handset. I think in order to make a successful android app you need to target the app towards the G1 since that's the first (and probably lowest spec) Android phone on the market.

Only for storage of your media and documents (music, video, docs). Not for apps. You're stuck with 256mb or 512mb for ALL your apps.

I would never by an android phone as long as there are iphones.
Seriously, why by imitation when you can get the real thing at an apple store?

The Android just might have a chance if they let devs code apps in C++ rather than Java. A lot of games use minimal objective C (this is less true for other apps) and could be ported relatively painlessly but few of us are inclined to port our game logic to Java when the market is so tiny, relative to iPhone.

I'm not entirely sure why Google are holding out on this, it might be so that they can change the hardware under the hood and stay compatible, It might just be idealism or even arrogance. Who knows?

Any touch screen phone isn't an iPhone imitation

I personally can't wait to get my Droid, I never intended to make it a primary handheld gaming device, my iPod is for that. I do however, want a legit phone with great service.
    Verizon all the way.

If it's only because of Verizon, it might be in your best interest to wait for June/July. There's talk that the iPhone will be available on Verizon. AT&T exclusivity ends at this period.

I would like to see the article you found that... As far as I know at&t has exclusivity until next year at the very least...

Why are people still surprised the iPhone is remaining AT&T exclusive? T-Mobile is the only other GSM carrier in the USA and their 3G network consists of about 6 towers, with the rest of their 3G coverage roaming on AT&T. After this massive AT&T vs Verizon advertising campaign that even Apple has gotten themselves involved in does anyone really think they're just going to be like "Oh yeah, and I know we've been talking about how crappy the Verizon network is but go buy a Verizon iPhone thanks in advance."

Makes sense if you put it that way. Why are people surprised? Its just consumer knee jerk response from too much drop calls and horrible reception from AT&T.:p

I've thought about it, because there has been a lot of talk about that happening. But, I can't wait those extra few months. My Dare is ready for retirement, I don't think I could make it till June/July with it lol. Besides that, I'm not even sure if I want the iPhone because I rather like having a device purely for gaming, and then a nice phone. If I had an iPhone it would always be on 20% battery :p

If you actually use your phone to talk a lot unlike me then the iphone (or any smartphone for that matter) isn't going to hold a charge for decent gaming/surfing/texting unless you're either near a charger or want to buy those fugly battery packs that add a ton of bulk.
