Love the combat but still annoyed with the city conquering story mode. But, if nothing else, the combat led me to get my first Dissidia game (something 012) for my PSTV. And I am loving that -- although the combat is a bit more complex and will take some time to learn. Wish the devs of this game would pop into this thread and see that there are many turned off by the city stuff. They could still keep it as maybe some "conquest" mode but I'd love to see a more character driven story mode with focus on combat.
Just to note this is unplayable on an iPad mini 2. It's unbelievably laggy Also yeah the city's stuff is a REAL off put
I like the city mode, and I hope they don't get rid of it (not that devs tend to axe stuff like that, but still)... I agree it's a very weird choice, though - I mean, I guess the Chinese market really likes "conquer an ancient realm" type games, but it seems like a strange place to put one. A mission mode or challenge mode with a better sense of progression would certainly be a good compromise. Very impressed with it overall, though. It's a really good argument that Injustice et al did not have to be swipe fighters. I can tell my iPad Air 2 is struggling a bit - graphics are a bit muddier than some of the early footage, framerate gets choppy when you fire off ultimates - but it's still more than playable and the art design goes a long way to making up for it. I can't quite understand why this isn't F2P... but it'd be great if it stayed premium. (Christ, there must be some way to make bank off it, even so - if you could get online play working, and sell cosmetic upgrades for real money, maybe?)
I'm with you -- the city stuff is unusual but pretty entertaining, especially once you get the logic of it. (For those struggling, each way to manage the city gives different resources -- money or troops -- as well as opportunities to get more rage clones, items, or other encounters.) On an iPhone 7 the game runs at a what seems like a steady 60 fps. Funny thing is that I hated Dissidia, but I'm actually really enjoying the combat here. Maybe it's the fact that it's simpler -- with Dissidia I never felt like I knew what I was doing.
From the little I've played so far of Dissidia 012 Duodecim Final Fantasy, which I literally just got yesterday after hearing the comparison of this to it, it most definitely is more complex. But the fundementals are similar. I'm enjoying it. Probably do prefer the simplified combat here but hoping to learn. As far as the city stuff in this game, everything just seems too random. I get the idea of garrisoning to get more gold and fighters. It's just not all that fun for me. As I mentioned before, I think they should keep it like as maybe a conquest mode for people that enjoy it. But hope they had another more combat, character focused story mode or at least a sense of progression to the other modes as well.
Yup, definitely enjoying the city mode (played it for a bit longer). It is... a bit disconnected, I guess? Might be why it feels "random" to some people? Like there isn't a "you", apart from that weird game piece thing that floats around, and it's a fairly simple board game - you're basically just wandering from location to location, making a few dice rolls and picking a couple of easy multiple choices. Survive for 120 turns and visit every spot on the map, boom, done (obviously it's not quite that easy but you know what I mean). Anyway, placed next to a game where things are very much "Tap virtual button, punch this guy", I can see why some people would feel the two things just don't have anything to do with each other. I still admire the devs for trying, though. No, there's no online mode, I was just thinking out loud about how the devs could possibly make more money out of a game like this without going F2P.
I'd be happy to see another story mode as well. The city mode, though, is not feeling that random for me. Haven't played a Dissidia game since the first one on PSP (many years ago). Maybe I should give it another try .
Bug report. The characters willl randomly equipe an item they can't normally equipe. Such as Hound equipping a staffff. It annoying. And the weapon u had in place of the staff disappear. WTF.
Yeah, what I'm playing is the PSP sequel that apparently is more or less an enhanced version of the first game. Never had a PSP but it was on PSN and works on my little PSTV (probably the best mini console bargain I've ever bought for just $40). Maybe random was the wrong word to use for the city stuff but it just isn't grabbing me.
I like the game as a full-fledged PREMIUM title; there is plenty to do in this single-player game. We understand that you don't like some aspects of the game, especially Story Mode, but it's the dev's move; maybe they have multiplayer in mind for future updates. Online play isn't ALWAYS needed for games like this; some devs try to do something different/unique sometimes, and there will always be good and bad results. If they do decide to add multiplayer, it should simply be a mode that allows asynchronous local play and/or an online multiplayer mode while still retaining ALL of its PREMIUM content, but the current battle scheme is not up to snuff enough to even be a feasible justification for spending more on an already expensive project; battles would need a complete rework in order to keep players entertained, not to mention, all of the reported lagging on less powerful/post iOS 8 firmware device issues would need to be addressed as well.
Hey, hey, hold your horses; I said I liked the Story Mode fine, I just thought it was an odd choice. I'm thinking out loud because basically I've been playing on iOS and hanging around TA long enough I've seen far too many games start out premium and suddenly turn F2P because they're just not earning as much as the people behind them hoped they would. I really hope that doesn't happen to this one (especially since it seems like it was originally planned that way, with all the different resources, some of them extremely limited), and it just got me wondering what sort of things the dev, or any dev, could do to make more money without going down that route. But sure, I'm not blind; I doubt this forum's opinion counts for that much when they've got the Chinese market to think about.
It's coming soon according to them so let's hope it does happen That's the mode that says coming soon under it
You don't. To get more, you have to garrison in agricultural towns and either save a disciple from a clone or have one join you. If you completely run out of disciples, you may have to visit multiple agricultural towns until you get lucky. Basically, disciples are a resource that you have to manage, just like any other. Sometimes it's best to pass on a fight, especially when the opponent is labeled as "very powerful." (Not that they're unbeatable, but still.)
I second that opinion. And One more thing. If you want to reach 75 % you have to fight a lot. If mayor in a city give u the option between telling your plans and attack him. ATTACK THE bastard. If you don't attack him with your army, his disciple will block your way. And after you beat violet ------ LET THE PEOPLE DECIDE. OK!!!
