BFBC2 refers to Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The reason that it's the best is it has absolutely massive multiplayer maps and requires more skill than luck, unlike MW2. The Orange Box is a collection of three games by Valve released on a single disc. Those three games are Portal (awesome), Half-Life 2 (awesome), and Team Fortress 2 (awesome). Definitely worth getting if you don't have it already. The "MW2 is better than Halo 3" is Midian's opinion, so he has his own reasons, but I'll give you my take as to why. Currently, it has a much larger user base. Gameplay is faster and much more realistic. I believe there's more gameplay modes as well. A downside is no vehicles to play around with, but that's why he suggested Bad Company 2 instead.
They're both very different experiences. Group play in BFBC2 is much more satisfying, but playing alone... not so much if there's no communication in the squad. It's like playing L4D2 with bad AI. I'd label this game as leaning towards a war simulator. MW2 is the opposite. Group play is good as well (mostly during Search and Destroy and Domination), but you're rewarded as an individual with killstreak rewards. It's more of an arcade war shooter in that sense. If I could, I'd get both, but the game that's played most often is MW2, so I opted for that. Go with whichever one your friends play the most, otherwise the multiplayer gets stale quick.
Then go with whatever game your friends play the most. You can't go wrong with a game most of the time if you've got plenty of people to hook up with.
Yeah, there most certainly is online matchmaking in all the FPS games listed, and you can join random rooms while connected with friends, too. It's just a lot more fun if you've got friends in tow.
alright. thanks for the help. Considering Halo Reach and CoD Black Ops are coming in the fall, I think I'll hold off on Halo 3 and MW2. That leaves me with Borderlands, Gears of War 2, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, and Left for Dead 2.
You can still have loads of fun playing BFBC2 solo. Some of my greatest achievements were going Rambo all on my own, playing as an Engineer, bursting through enemy lines, taking out the opposition, completing the objective then escaping amidst a flurry of explosions and flying bullets. I got about 30 pins in a single match for that... I dunno if that's still good, I haven't played in a while. Plus obviously snipers go solo most of the time.
Unless everyone you know is getting Borderlands for the first time, don't bother. The entire game is built for co-op, it's not just a nice addition. Gears of War, definitely. Don't pay more than $30 for it. Left 4 Dead 2, also definitely if you're friends are still playing it. Hell, it's good for Versus if you play alone. As a general rule, more friends = more fun. Pretty much every single game coming out this fall has that in mind.
Oh, one quick thing I forgot to mention. Can you guys not just randomly join my parties? Not cool at all when I'm in the middle of a campaign with my friends and you guys invite your friends that I don't even know and flood the entire party. Yes, I'm singling someone out.
Somebody go buy Gears of War 2! My friends are never on when Im on so I needs a buddy to get extremely angry with!
So, I'm pretty sure everyone already knows this, but I just barely watched the trailer, so... Crysis 2 is the coolest robot apocalypse game. Of all time.
