2 hours sounds like an overstatement to me, it's not too difficult to fly through Portal in about 40 minutes unless you really have difficulty working out what you need to do. Anyway since we were talking about FO3 and there's a dude here that's considering buying it I figured I'd post a the two videos that convinced me to go back and give it another chance:
If I play through it again I'm sure I could beat it in that time, but on the first playthrough... pretty long, and if you got the Steam version for free (like me) you can download free maps online PC gaming FTW!
Hey guys thanks for all the help. Midian GTX, Donovan1209, Eletric Shaman-thanks a lot, but I'm going crazy now! Bioshock 2, Fallout 3, such good reasons for both-but I can only buy one! Anyways, I'm heavily leaning towards Fallout 3, beause constantly replaying Bioshock just to get different enddings does not appeal to me. FO3 has more content, in side quests and suh, and I tihnk I will enjoy the VATS, the leveling up system, and the open world, which seems similar to GTA with the amount of stuff you can do. It's not very polished, but that is a sacrifice I have to make for so much gameplay. Anyways guys, thanks so much
You should definitely get Bioshock eventually, it's just that it sounds like you're on a tight budget so you should be going for value for money and Fallout and The Orange Box will give you the most hours.
Eventually play the original Bioshock. It's one of the current gen's classics, and at this point, it's literally dirt cheap. I guarantee that you could get Bioshock and Fallout 3 for less than $45 on eBay.
They're about $20 each, just get those two over Bioshock 2 (which is normally $40) and you got some great games I think I should make a console wars thread (w/ poll of course) and let fanboys argue and then read through it and laugh
No-I am getting the FO3 GOTY edition which is 60 bucks. Its worth it because of the better ending, the raise of the level cap, and more side quests. Also, can you explain why Bioshock is so much better than Bioshock 2? Because in Bioshock 2, you can have a magic power and a weapon equipped at the same time, there is multiplayer, and you can also adopt one of the Little Sisters
They're not magic powers they're plasmids. The first one is better, everyone agrees on that. Bioshock 2's multiplayer sucks, so just to get that out of the way. Bioshock 1 is better than Fallout 3, just ask Metacritic It is complete! http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?threadid=60559
The original Bioshock is what made everyone that played it (or nearly everyone, at least) fall in love with Rapture. It's the original game made by the original developers, with the original creepy premise. It's hard to explain, but if Bioshock 1 were more like it's sequel, it wouldn't have been as popular. If you play the first game, you realize how cool it actually is to be a Big Daddy. In the first game, you can experience that "oh shit" feeling when you see one for the first time. In the first game, you realize the Little Sisters are genuinely creepy and no a gameplay ploy. And the multiplayer is crap, that's out of the equation completely. Price wise, maybe you should go with the original version. Here's one that's selling for $14. Buying the DLC separately will still be cheaper than a GOTY edition, and you don't really need the manual. We tried that already. Didn't go well.
+1 to all of this, nothing compares to the awesomeness that is Bioshock! I had to make the decision a month ago, Bioshock vs Fallout 3, and I got Bioshock and it is AWESOME!
What if I never experienced the first game? Will the environment in Bioshock 2 affect me the way Bioshock affeted most people at first? Or is the "feel" in Bioshock 2 that much worse than the feel in Bioshock?
So after all this, that's your reasoning? Hating on FO3 and sticking up for Bioshock just because it's the one you happened to buy and you want to justify the purchase? At least I own both games!
